Microsoft announces list of Xbox One backwards compatible games

On November 12, Xbox One owners will be able to play a select list of Xbox 360 games on their console, via backwards compatibility. Some of the listed games include Assassins' Creed II, Fable 2, Ikaruga, Wolfenstein 3D, and more. Microsoft plans to continually add more games, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops and Bioshock, to the list over time.

Freaking awesome starting list. Fable II, All Gears of Wars, Mirrors Edge, South Park The Stick of Truth, Rainbow Six 1 and 2, along with anything that's been games with gold, on top of some of the best arcade games is a great beginning list.

Also keep in mind, more titles to be added monthly, so expect to see more heavy hitters some time in December :yay:

Anything? What about Dark Souls? Dishonored? Halo 3? Definitely not everything.

Well it's good to see NiGHTS on there, my 360 pads are all pretty much busted and was wondering how I'd be doing my annual December Christmas NiGHTS run , but I'm not really completely impressed by this list (sorry chav!)
We're getting Assassins Creed 2, why not the others? Fallout 3 but no New Vegas? Trials HD but no Evolution? (in Trials case though I'm actually looking forward to playing a bit of HD anyway). The list goes on..
Maybe I'm just a greedy pig that wants all my games back straight away, or maybe the devs are greedy pigs and doing what Nintendo etc do with VC: trickling in releases, hopefully making a quick buck.... It's probably a bit of both!
Still, not as if I can play all my 360 collection at once is it...

Because there are only two AC games that are worth being noticed and ACII is one of them. The other one is brotherhood. No need for anything else.

Good list so far. If I didn't already own a 360, I would buy a One now.

True, but you missed the point. (I only liked ACII actually!) Looks like they're saving the others for [a fanfare!?] release in the coming months...

No Mass Effect 2 or 3 yet, partly due to MS themselves owning up to not getting multi disc games working properly yet (this would also account for Forza 3 & 4 no-show)
Great to see Pac Man CE and particularly DX showing up, love both games. Not sure they'll stop be playing Pac Man 256 though, argh I can't stop....
Also good to see a big showing from Sega! We want more though - Bayonetta, Daytona USA, and Rez HD: GIVE ME MY REZ!! :D

Interesting to see how this develops on the long run. MS has a clear advantage here for people who skipped the 360 or even the last console gen completely.

To be honest, Bethesda should rework the whole game in order to make it playable on a console without any game breaking bugs. At least on PC side you can respawn NPCs, make events happen and generate items with the console if the game happened to lose them for some odd reason. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are the same on consoles :(

Simply adding access to the developer console like the PC version has would go a long way toward fixing the 360 and PS3 versions of the game, by letting users fix their game as much as they can with the commands. But if they redo Skyrim, they'd better at least upgrade the engine to use a 64-bit executable on PC. The 3.1GB VRAM limit is annoying and stops it from being modded to full potential. Not that I think either is going to happen -.- ... Anyway, a few good titles on the list, but not exactly the powerhouse assortment I would have expected MS to come out swinging with. The Xbone is still in some need to repair its image and I'm not sure if this list helps enough to matter. It strikes me as a missed opportunity.

What about DLC for X360 games will they work too on the xbone?
Yep, all DLC will work. Didn't in the Preview Build which is why I played about 5 minutes of Mass Effect 1, but now apparently does.
Really, assuming DLC is easy to implement, shouldn't multi disc be as easy? ..You're downloading the entire game anyway regardless of whether you have the disc(s) in the tray, just use 'Disc 1' to prove you've got the game...

OFC there's a ton of stuff that will never be backwards compatible... Marvel vs Capcom 3, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and everything else that was ever delisted from xbla, etc.
Yeah :( and of course Outrun Online. These things can't be helped I suppose. Stuff with licensed music will probably also take longer - if they bother at all ..just remembered Rez has licensed music too, shi-it - get it sorted lads!
