Homebrew Something I don't quite understand regarding how HANS works.

So as I understand in order to create the files for rom hacks you need a dump of the rom, extract the relevant files, apply the hack to that and then place it on the SD card to apply it via HANS, but there isn't anyway to dump a rom on anything above 9.2, so the only way you can do it is via piracy.

I was under the impression that the devs behind it were against piracy, so why would they develop something that the only people who would have use for it would be required to pirate the game in order to use it? Even if you own the original game downloading it again is still piracy despite what some people may claim.

Is there something I'm missing or misunderstanding here? I mean I'm not against piracy it just seems strange that this would be the case unless there's going to be a way to dump your own ROMs or already is that I missed on the newer firmwares.

This along with the other features makes me think there's more to 2.5 then what is initially apparent, probably not full <9.2 levels but there seems to something going on.

You can't dump the games yourself yet. The dev of citra is currently working on it. Him and I talked a bit already about it. it will work similar to hans

Well, it's obviously made for people who have also a >9.2 3DS, so they can play they games on their updated system to profit from the optimal stability!
Not entirely it was most likely a proof of concept to kickstart the community. Remember when Ninjhax 2.0 was released and smealum mentioned "more" features? No one really knew the extent of them until now. If you look past what the apps can do you will see that we have full access to game files to copy/modify at will. So that can open quite a few doors

Well, my post was supposed to be ironic, but I agree with you on that point :P

That's along the lines I was thinking Sasori but I wasn't sure if there was something I was missing, it can be hard to find things in the 3DS community at the moment, I'm sure that'll change as it continues to grow. Thanks for the replies.
