Hacking DVD9 to DVD5, need help

There are few games for DVD9 like Metroid Other M and SSBB (Super Smash Bros Brawl). But I notice there is website that show DVD5 on it. I kept wonder how did they cut in half of memory. I know DVD9 mean DVD-R DL. Problem is they are not selling anymore. Only I see they have DVD+R DL. But that is not my main reason for DVD-R DL. I need to know how to cut the memory down like two games I mention.

If there is possibility, then please let me know as you can.

I know that for a lot of Brawl rips, almost all cutscenes from subspace emissary were replaced with like 2 seconds clips of nothing which cut the file size enough to fit on a single layer DVD, so I have to assume something similar was done for Other M

Step 1: Use USB loading.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: PROFIT!

Cutting content is never preferable. You can trim games easily enough, but replacing content is a bit tougher.

Unrelated, but does anyone remember what that weird first DVD9 Japanese game was? Not Brawl but something really strange early in the system's life.
