A tri core powerpc expansion cartridge to run wii u games and a dvd, and if you trade in your wii u you get discount on the nx as well as these two hardware expansions for free.

I rarely trade in or sell my systems. What it would take to get me to buy a NX is games that interest me. Wii U has had three games so far that interested me, which I found fairly lackluster. That's a lot of money for three games.

Though, I did sell my Wii U since it was so lackluster. I'll buy another again once I can get a used one for less than $80.

Starting with this generation, I am no longer selling my consoles. I just hand them down to my parents to use for streaming apps like Netflix. That will be the fate of my Wii U if NX comes. I've grown attached to my consoles now.

I keep getting possessed into selling my vita, but I'm fighting that urge hoping for games to be released. Thank God for Trails in Cold Steel. It seems the spirit has been satiated.

Why would nintendo give discounts if they just give you the option to play wiiu games right back to you?

Also..."A tri core powerpc expansion cartridge to run wii u games and a dvd" ? So, erm...would I get an NX if it allows for current-gen (then last-gen) consoles AS A CARTRIDGE? WHY YES OF COURSE!!! And I'll take the Xbone, steamOS and PS4 expansions as well, while I'm at it! :D

On a serious note: I'll get the NX based on what it has to offer. I didn't trade in my wii either (or rather: sold it to buy a wiiu with, which is basically the same sort of deal). And that offered wii game support from the get go.

The reason for cartridge is the change in architecture and instructions, thou a quad core x86 should simulate wii u without problem. Nintendo has mentioned wii u sip before when they talk about next gen in 2014, claiming they can put wii u on something more mobile.

come on the wiiu doesnt even play dvd's why the hell would they give you a free dvd player, a wii u in a cart AND a discount on the new console in exchange for for a wiiu, if you want to play wii u games, keep your wiiu, if you want to play dvd's buy a dvd player,

its like me saying "oh i want to sell my old car, so the manufacturer should provide me with a new car at a discount, and give me back my old car too, and also throw in a go kart for good measure ......or i wont buy your new car, they would laugh you out of the dealership

Wii u is capable of reading dvd, it is just restricted by software. The dvd is for reading wii u discs.

wiiu disks arent dvd's, they are a modified blueray format....but the whole idea is BS anyway, sure ask for backwards compatibility, but expecting them to manufacture and give away for free wiiu's in a cart is ridiculous

I don't sell my consoles. Once they get out of date, they go on the shelf and the collection expands.

Plus, I regularly go back to my old games for another playthrough. Helps pass the time between new releases, and believe me, I've been playing a lot of N64/GC games waiting on some good Wii U games.

If I were designing the consoles, I would switch the handheld to an atom processor (or something similar) and the main unit to some slightly faster x86 CPU, but I would leave ARM processors in the NX handheld (for backwards compatibility and for running background OS tasks) and a PPC processor in the NX base (for full compatibility with Wii U, Wii, and Gamecube games). The optical drive would be an optional add-on. It would play 4K Bluray movies as well as all Nintendo Disks, new and legacy (everything going back to the Gamecube).

Otherwise, all new and old games would be purchased online. Nintendo would make its full back catalog available for purchase going back to the NES. Buying a game would entitle you to play it on all consoles you owned, now and in the future, so long as there was a port and no substantial remastering had been done. Nintendo would also make all games older than a certain date (maybe 3-5 years) available for free to subscribers who paid a monthly fee.
