Homebrew Does anyone know if the New 3DS (non-XL) models have firmware 9.2?

They come with 9.5.
Damn it, at least I can still run Ninhax and Themehax, right? How much better are the emulators compared to o3DS. Is it true that the SNES and GBA emulators run almost perfectly on n3DS compared to o3DS?

I don't want to upgrade my current 3DS to 10.2 because I don't want to lose Themehax and have to go through Ninjhax, just to get to the Homebrew Lunacher. What do I do, get a 3DS with 9.5 and update my old one from 10.1 to 10.2? I want to use the n3DS for homebrew since it has faster emulators.

I think I might get a 3DS XL since they have 9.2 and can run both .cia files and faster emulators.

You can still do ninjahax and theme hax but I don't know about the emulators.

I know some of the XL models do but I want to know if the North American New 3DS models that aren't XL have firmware 9.2?

Just so you know, most of the Australian non-XL New 3DS models come with 9.2.

GBA, it sucks less balls than o3DS, but still sucks balls.
Does it?

I don't have a New 3ds to compare, but I've been wondering if the performance of a dstwo flashcart (using it's onboard cpu) would be superior and worth recommending to 03bgood over a New3ds.
With the tempgba-mod emulator on the dstwo flashcart gba emulation is quite decent, with nearly all games running, though some do require frameskip.

If he's talking about buying entirely new hardware to play gba games, that might be an avenue he should consider.

GBA emulation is fine on n3DS.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
