ok prepare to laugh, but i have been out the ps3 hacking scene sense 2009 so im very rusty.
now for this question.

i just got a ps3 super slim, (not brand new) and i was wondering what options do i have in hacking it if any?
i know enough that there are no known free ways so im ready to spend money if i have to.
now i have been reading on ps3 modchips and i see a ton of different chips claiming that some work on 4k (i believe that the 4k is my super slim) now if i may bee so picky id like it to be within the following guidelines.

No soldiering
no BD disk burning/ swapping

id like to put my backups on a HDD and load from there.
now it seems like the cobra does that from what i see...but so does the E3 ODE PRO i think...

what do you think my best course of action is?

I have the same model, currently there is nothing we can do to have cfw but this looks promising:http://www.ps3hax.net/2015/10/the-ps3-xdr-dram-adventure-continues-2/ :), so i would wait a bit :).

ODE is your only method on a super-slim. However your requirements pretty much eliminate them as the super slim requires both soldering, and a swap disc for any OFW over 4.55. Not sure if they ever released the newer boards for the 4K model.

Best course of action? The ODE + QSB + DVD you use for a swap disc + installation time would probably cost you more than it would be to find either a 3.55 slim, or a slim to downgrade.

Just a note, but no ODE will work past 4.6x+ firmware on all PS3 models, they managed to block them since and AFAIK no one has bypassed it.

yea glad i asked, thats a bit confusing. the demonstration videos always make it look easy. they have a bunch of little clips to connect it to the ps3.
i dont think its been updated past 4.6 seeing how its been broke since the beginning of the year.
but when my power supply comes in ill see its version.
