Hey, all.

Set up a new 3ds to run reinand for a friend of mine. Specifically told him to not update at all period but, funny enough, he did it anyway :glare::wtf:. I have a back-up of his emunand from when I first set up his system, however, I know he has some game save data that he is not keen on losing. Was wondering if there is anyway to convert his emunand from 9.6 back to 9.5 or if he is going to have to suck up the save data loss and start from scratch.

Thanks in advance.

Use emunand tool to reinject his backed-up emunand onto the SD card

I actually don't know if this works on n3ds' emunand but in theory it should.

Hey, thanks for the response. I actually have his entire SD card backed up (emunand and all), so I was just going to restore that and that would fix it ez peazy. I was just wondering if there was a way to do it so he wouldn't be losing his game saves

If you reinject his emunand his saves will be fine, as long as it's the same emunand (you didn't format emunand after the backup I mean) you should be fine.

Unfortunately, I formatted after I injected because it was an AUS system that I region changed to US, so that wouldn't work out, but that is good information to know for future reference. I was unaware of that.

Did you ever back it up after region changing? And what did you change, emunand or sysnand?

I made a back-up, but only using the USB image tool of the SD card as a whole. Sysnand is still AUS. I only changed the region for Emunand.
Alright so here's what I think you should do that should work (if I read correctly), move all files off of SD card (leave emunand alone), restore the SD card using your USB image tool, delete the contents of the SD card (leave emunand alone) and restore the contents that you moved in the beginning.

Worth a shot. I'll give that a shot. Thanks a lot!

Okay, I must be thrown way out of the loop here.
I thought the N3DS could only go up to 9.5 emunand, what's so bad if you're on 9.6 emunand?
