Hi,

usualy when HB gets released you get a CIA version together with .3dsx files for HBL users, which is cool!
So I wondered if there is a CIA version of Decrypt9 or any other XORpad creator available?
I found .3dsx and .dat files, but no CIA versions? :(

I hope I'm just blind :D

How come it's possible with HBL ?
HBL is running within the context of a game (which could be CN for example installed as CIA on emuNAND) and from there I start HBL -> Decrypt9.
So there should be a way to create a homebrew which does exactly the same as CN/HBL, but without all those steps.

No you're not blind.
There is no cia version (and you won't find one).
I don't see why you'd need a cia version anyway to be honest...

And I've just built it again just now manually as a cia with Brahma 2 (instead of the old brahma) and the best i get is it loads as far as the black screen just after the 3ds logo and then exits back to home menu.
I'm thinking it just won't work as a cia because I've tried everything i can think of and it won't run period.

As I said in my first post, all the other homebrews (at least most of them) come in both flavours (.cia / .3dsx).
Since I'm on 9.0 I have unsigned .cia execution and thus don't need *hax.
Of course I could just use browserhax, ninjhax, tubehax, ironhax and whatnot and this wouldn't be any problem at all ... but just setting up the whole HBL environment just for this?

There has to be a way to replicate all the steps *hax -> HBL -> Decrypt9 make, embedded in one homebrew packed as CIA.
Are the peeps who are abehind it here on the boards?

Decrypt9 isn't your usual homebrew app. Most other homebrews don't run on ARM9 like Decrypt9 does, they run on ARM11.
Is it REALLY that much of a pain to use *hax of some form to run D9?
So your options are, suck it up and use HBL to run D9 or one of the other methods available to run it. Or don't use it at all.

And no there doesn't have to be a way to replicate all the steps *hax -> HBL -> Decrypt9 make in one homebrew because as far as i know (and from my own experimenting) IT ISN'T POSSIBLE (correct me if I'm wrong people)....
And for the last question, yes @Archshift (original author) is around here somewhere, don't think he's actually on here much though. Then there's myself (partially involved) and @d0k3 as well who is also involved. I'm sure there's others that have been or are involved (@neobrain @Normmatt ) here as well.

The easiest way (in my opinion) to get into decrypt9 quickly from an emunand is to just use ctr boot manager (in conjunction with themehax/homemenuhax) with a menu option set up to boot decrypt 9, then just use AlbertoSONIC's Quick Reboot to reboot the console, select decrypt9 in your menu, and voila, decrypt to your heart's content. Then when you're done, decrypt9 will reboot the console right back into the ctr boot manager menu, and you can pick your emunand again. No big deal.

Yeah, this gets asked ever so often. At the moment, there is no way (via a CIA) to replicate the steps required to boot a .3DSX (or, to boot into HB launcher). It gets even worse, as most CFWs use firmlaunch now and the exploit running Decrypt9 is not available at all (it is only avaliable on "true" <= 9.2, even if you would manage to boot into HB launcher from a .CIA).

I'll give you a hint, though, if you really want a CIA version of Decrypt9, the people behind Decrypt9 are actually the wrong ones to ask. We're just using whichever entry points are available to us, and none of them is based on just installing a .CIA. If someone managed to run HB launcher from a .CIA though, the story would be a whole different one and making a Decrypt9 .CIA would be a snap. The only ones that could, in any way, be capable of that right now, are @smealum and yellows8. I'm pretty sure though, if they could code a .CIA entry point, they would have long done so.

Yeah it gets asked a lot and is quite annoying that people don't listen to be honest. Oh it IS possible to run the HB Launcher as a cia (I've done it), BUT that's as far as it goes. As soon as you try and load ANY homebrew from it (arm9 or not), it locks up the system. haha And yes of course there's also firmlaunch getting in our way too.

Basically, for us mere mortals a cia version isn't going to happen anytime this century lol I've tried EVERYTHING i can think of to no avail. Yes i get bored and like messing with random shit. haha
