This post on Twitter:
just got sleep mode working for homebrew ! also power button will be usable now. next version will fix a ton of stuff. :)
This post on Twitter:
devs will be happy to hear that the next release should also give them more memory to play with ! hopefully 64MB more on n3ds, 16MB on old.
This post on Twitter:
fincs has done amazing work and we can now use the DSP to stream sound ! it'll be fully supported by *hax 2.5 :)
This post on Twitter:
i realize nobody asked for this but looks like region5 will have an exit-to-hblauncher feature !
This post on Twitter:
so turns out it seems like we accidentally have access to a total of 188MB of ram on hax 2.5 instead of 128MB as previously anounced. oops
Looks like it's gonna be good. :)

EDIT: r5 is RegionFIVE

This news has Margen67 in a great mood I guess

On a side note, between this, the recent RetroArch progress, Nexus 6P, Smash Patch 1.1.1, and the fact that I finally pulled the trigger on getting a 9.0 n3DS, I have hype trains pulling me in so many different directions right now

Oh, that's cool but, only load bigger roms? can't use those 16 to make some optimization?

RAM is basically your 3DS' (and any computer's) short-term memory. Basically, your 3DS will now be able to remember a lot more things at once which means it doesn't have to waste time "forgetting" and "recalling" something else.

"Recalling" means loading resources from the SD card, which can be pretty slow. To make room for more "memories" (resources), the device removes unnecessary resources from memory ("forgets") and could even write them to the SD card as a cache. Once that's done, it will load the new resource from the SD card into memory. All of this takes a fair amount of time and could be a pretty big bottleneck for starting/running apps. With more memory, the device would presumably remove less resources, write to SD less, and be able to access older resources faster.

Unfortunately, RAM won't really help emulators. We may see some improvements solely because our devices are already memory constrained, but emulators don't really use a lot of memory. Speed improvements for emulators will come from more CPU-based optimizations and GPU drawing updates.

I hope some of this made sense to you guys :P

like we can play Xenoblade in old3ds/XL?! LOOL
just kidding

Can you give me an example about bigger roms?

NeoGeo roms is a first thought but not sure the O3DS CPU could handle the later games too smoothly anyway.

The update sounds like it'll be nice but now I really want to get a N3DS to take full advantage of it.
Hoping refurbished units pop up on the Nintendo Store.

Sleep mode is gonna be so nice, I can stop worrying about pressing the home key every time lol.
