Hi - Have been reading tutorial after tutorial and got to the part where brain is about to explode! :P

Could anybody please advise/point me to the correct tutorial(s) please

Would like to know which is the best OFW to be on to then enable best option for a permanent flashed CFW.

Thanks! :)

4.1 to 4.5 currently. 9.0 to 9.2 if/when one of the CFWs gets Themehax implemented. Either way, you'll need a legitimate copy of a game with the relevant update included on-cart. http://3dsdb.com/ lists all scene release ROMs and the updates they include.
CakesFW (gbatemp.net/threads/release-cakesfw.391200/) is the best option right now imo, fastest and most reliable. Missing a few of the features of rxTools (https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-rxtools-roxas75-3ds-toolkit-fw-2-0-9-2.382782/) but if you only care about playing games, none of those features should matter to you, it's mostly decryption and dumping capabilities.
to then enable best option for a permanent flashed CFW.
At the moment there aren't any that can be 'permanently flashed'. They all require some kind of user-activated exploit, be that the web browser, profile settings, or Ninjhax. Themehax as an entrypoint would be the next best thing though, as it'd automatically trigger upon booting the console.

The only way to dump an 1.0 nand is an hardmod.

And OP, don't update past 6.X or you're SOL, the best option is 4.1-4.5 first. And you will need a ds flashcart.

Because I didn't post a link to a software 1.0 dumper in my post.... fucking retards these days spreading false information...

Well, sorry I was focused on your post on the other thread. But like I said, it's still not a valid reason to insult me...

For 1.1.0-0 NAND dumping, if it succeeded, I would like to have that Nintendo petit concert 3D movie being dumped :P

It could get banned from PSN but you can change your ID I think?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
