Hacking Need to update o3ds from 6.1 to 9.0/2

Hi! I have a 3ds xl coming in the mail with 6.1, i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to safely get it to 9.2. I heard installing updates through roms on gw leads to brick, is it safe to update through rom on sky3ds? Also are thwre any other ways that can get me there without accidentally going to the newest version like smealums updater

In any case, you can use rxTools in devmode and then use sysupdater to do it.

I would like to use themes, and some cfws dont support less that 8.1 if I'm correct? Also I'm more of a power user but I really just want a safe cfw with emunand and cias, as I bricked a 3ds before.

As far as I know, that firmware should be able to set up CFWs without any issue.
GW will work, rxTools will work. Those two are the most meaningful ones with a O3DS anyway.
So you shouldn't have to worry. In any case, the way I said above will work.

My only entrypoint on the xl will be cubic ninja, which I understand recquires 9.0 for 1.1b? I do believe I need to update.

Pretty sure you can.

You mean 3DS? Yes, you can install ambassador games in CIA format using a CFW and a CIA installer (BBM, Devmenu, FBI, etc).
You just need to find them online. They're available.

Nope sorry, only 9.0.0.18-9.5.0.22

AFAIK, it's New 3DS only.

YOU can, just update both to 10.1 (sysnand for the 9.9 one, emunand for the 6.1 one) then do the system transfer from your 10.1 sysnand to your 10.1 emunand.

Why don't you just use rxTools?

Like it's been said already, Reinand is only for N3DS.
But rxTools, even the latest nightly, works flawlessly with a O3DS. It's only still unstable with N3DS. So you have nothing to worry about.

Can you give me a good tutorial for making emunand and seperating it from sysnand? I'm really scared about it because that's how I bricked my other 3dsxl
