Hacking I want to learn to do save edits (particularly splatoon). Will somebody please be my guide?

For those familiar with the game, you know sub abilities are very hard to control on a fine level with the in-game systems. For the sake of experimentation, data-gathering, and building character builds I'm 100% satisfied with, it would be a tremendous time saver in my life if I learned the skill of save editing. This way I can keep my playing and datamining as a hobby, not a job! I have technical experience in computer repair and R programming so, while this would be an entirely new skill, I believe I could learn it effectively.

If someone would be willing to collaborate on this, it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much, and I hope I've done an okay job introducing myself!

Depends, what version of the game do you have? I don't know the exact address for 1.1-1.2, but I have 1.0, 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1.

I have the most up-to-date, 2.1. I'm not sure what version my wii u is in terms of model number, but the system is fully updated software-wise as far as I know. I'd love to collaborate if you're willing to work with me on it. You'd be a lifesaver!

Oh, well then that'd be a problem, the only ones the public can use right now are on 5.3.2 (latest firmware is 5.5.0). I can give you the specs, but you'd need to be able to run game mods, specifically TCPGecko. Should be possible on 5.5.0 eventually after emuNAND and/or spoofing is out

That's good information. How long a development cycle do these things tend to need? In the mean time, would it be possible to backgrade for the sake of this project? Thanks for getting me acquainted with this stuff!

Depends on what part of the year and what problems we run into, most of the team has school and only MN1, Matt and Hykem are working on exploit schtuff, ideally before the holidays but TBH I have no idea how long it'd take. Just keep following the main thread for progress updates. As for downgrading, not even close. The main reason we're working on IOSU is for that kind of stuff, it'd allow full access to NAND and eMMC for downgrading and such, and so we can see how everything works. As for my game modding stuff, basically whenever I have time, I have Splatoon mostly ripped apart, including most of the save. Just not sure how they store stuff like Octo Valley progress, it looks like it's just a bunch of 12 byte flags. Might I ask what type of information you're interested in extracting from Splatoon? You mentioned subabilities, but everything related to that has already been extensively data mined by people who have the tools to do it and the information has been posted on various places.
