When selecting a game title (I have about 50 loaded onto a drive that is working fine on another modded Wii), the screen goes black, then returns to the "started" screen of the Homebrew channel. I know it's not the titles or the way the drive is formatted (at least I don't think so).

I loaded the SysCheck in Cyan's signature, and when it goes through the check, I get the message "failed to get the stored TMD from IOS36" with a big red X and it goes back to that same screen. It does not create a log file for review. I've looked around for a fix for it, but there are as many solutions as there are posts about it.

I'm trying to mod a Wii for my daughter. Her boyfriend has managed to brick 4 different Wii's because "he's done it a bunch before." I've gotten two of them unbricked, but I'm trying to mod one now, and I've almost got it. I'm guessing there's one small step I'm missing, but I can't post the SysCheck to get some help without getting past this latest error message.

I also have issue with syscheck, I can't display the report, or it freeze when scanning. I wouldn't worry about it.

Your symptom means that the game couldn't be found.
There are few possibilities :
1. you don't have cIOS.
2. your ISO are corrupted/bad
3. the cIOS couldn't mount your drive so the Wii couldn't find the ISO

I think issue is 1
you will have to (re)install d2x cIOS v8 (or v10) with a base56 or base57 in slot249.

I'd have to agree with you, because I don't recall ever installing cIOS. Going to look for how to do that now.

I think you are on Wii, not WiiU, so here is the installer :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/5ggh53tj9hhp1tr/d2x-cios-installer-3.1-v6-v7-v8-v10-wii.7z

extract to a folder on your apps/
(for example apps/d2x installer/)
then run it from HBC.

select this :
what : d2x v8 Final
where : 249
base : 56 (faster than 57 but not 100% compatible) or 57 (slightly slower than 56 but 100% compatible with games)(well, except games with antipiracy check)
version : 21008

press A to install from network, then exit.
then, have fun with your games :)

Perfect! That did it. I'll go back to having fun on my Wii. Dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend will be fun. I did in one day (with your help) what he couldn't do in a month. lol.
