Hacking rxtools 2.6 versus newer builds or nightlies - What are you running?

Hello,

I'm running rxtools 2.6 (straight from rxtools.net) on my 3DS XL and fairly happy with it. My only complaint is the long startup time and having to hit 'A' to continue (I would rather have it continue by default).

Wondering what other people are using and the advantages (disadvantages)?

Any builds people want to share? I'm sure I can figure out how to build it myself, but would rather not if I don't have to. Thanks

I'm using the Alpha 3.0 build that has MSET support and it automatically boots into emuNAND, I'd say I'm pretty happy with it because it loads up just as quickly as Gateway

Where are you getting your 3.0 "beta" build from? I only see the "alpha" build here - https://github.com/roxas75/rxTools/releases

I followed a tutorial on this forum, and it had a link. You could probably find it if you searched for RxTools guide or RxTools tutorial. I have the folder on my desktop if you want me to zip it and email it to you.

Nope, definitely did not build it! Though not for lack of trying. I spent about half a day following some instructions for building it. Got nowhere and probably lost half my hair from the frustration.

2.6 on my 32gb sd card and the latest 3.0 nightly on my other sd card. haven't really noticed a difference other than the UI looks better for the 3.0 build lol

Sorry, that's the one I'm using ^ It runs a lot more smoothly than the 2.6 release imo, mainly because you don't have to hit "A" every time you go into the menu on bootup, it makes a world of difference

Has MSET (using downgraded System Settings) been ported to O3DS FW9.2 already?

PS: I just don't like tethering with my phone every time I want to reload RxTools, nor making my physical game save data corrupt by downgrading.

Yes. Both 4.x and 6.x MSET support.

Wow, those instructions are confusing (no offense to whoever wrote them). Probably outdated and doesn't match the current build.

For O3DS, upgrading from rxtools 2.6 to 3.0 nightly above: Delete rxtools.dat from the root of your SD. Copy the rxTools folder to your SD and then move firmware.bin to /rxTools/sys/.

For the rxTools mset exploit installer (Cakes ROP Installer), what does "DG" and "NDG" mean?

I installed the non-DG/NDG and it works. However now instead of pressing 'A' to continue, it say "Press Any Key to Continue". [Edit] I found the Quick Boot option in the RXtools Settings menu. However, it doesn't seem to be working. Still getting the "Press Any Key to Continue" and when I check the Quick Boot setting it's reverted back to X (versus a check).
