Question guys, I had a gateway for my old 3ds worked amazing.

I know Sky3DS is anotheroption but does it work on the latest firmware plus a n3ds? Is it plug and play do you just put games on it and that's it?

It works on the latest firmware, but Nintendo is in the process of implementing a new AP check which cannot be bypassed by the Sky3DS. Currently two games don't work - Fire Emblem If and Animal Crossing: Home Designer. Other than that, all cart-based games should work fine. The future however is uncertain, as we don't know if the AP is proprietary to Nintendo games or if it will be implemented across the board.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm mainly looking forward to use it for Xenoblade and omega ruby and smash bros. I've read I can go online with it as well? Any risk to that? And is it literally plug n play?

Close, but no cigar.... Minimal work and little thinking required compared to other solutions...

Every solution has it's place so don't let the haters sway your decision. It is about your needs being fulfilled by the easiest solution fitting your needs. Sky seems like the way from what you state for you.

For online use it is not plug and play. To avoid bans and issues you need to modify the sky template with a private header. In the tutorial section you will find how to get that private header from another cheap retail game. You can use either a powersave or a 9.2 below 3ds.

Thanks fellas. For gateway I set it up and downgraded my sysemu I've other devices, my wii, old school Pandora battery for my psp, flashed my 360. So I'm sure this will be fairly simple.
I'd go gateway easily but it doesn't support this emu. So sky seems to be my only option.
For onlone use I know this may sound dumb but can I use my own headers from my games? Sky makes it easier for me to have multiple games without the carry on of them. I's there anyway to use my original pokenon ruby or sapphire headers for the ruby rom hack and even my smash bros header for smash or even another games headers?

I was curious for plug n play because it states on there website that's all it is.

Pretty much - all you need to do to play online without the risk of bans is swap the public Online ID for your private one and you're set. As for ROM hacks, you won't be able to boot them via Sky due to a corrupt signature - you'll need a CFW, and that's not currently available for 9.9 OFW.

Technically it is plug and play for offline. But to avoid bans use private headers. You may need to tinker with the template to find headers that work for certain games. Basically there are 3 chip ID's which 1 of them is the most common found in 85% plus of the games. For instance the sky template has it at 1 chip ID but I had to change it to another to make online work. But for the majority of games 1 header will work.

And it is unneccesary to put individual headers for each game in the template. But you can if you wanted to if your intentions is just to make a exact copy of your games for on the go.

Man that really sucks, no rom hacks. Thats a big reason I wanted Sky3DS as well, on my gateway I had neo x and the ruby rom hack they were great.
Looks like that will have to hold off.
Thanks for the quick responses, I'm surprised to be honest I got some and this fast.

So I could use one header for multiple games?I didnt see on there website is region free?

Yes 1 header for multiple games. But you may have to tweak the template for the chip ID code to match the rom you have. On extreme cases you would have to use a second header for a troublesome game.

And sky is not region free so if you have USA console, only USA cartridge roms. No eshop only games or romhacks as you mentioned.

He can always use RegionFOUR or the Ninjhax 2.0 region free launcher, I don't think they were blocked on 9.9.
