I have not followed the community for a while now but I want to finally buy a gateway 3ds to play some games....

While ago, I read reports of bricks as gateway had a bricking code in it; normally to counter clones but there were bricks with genuine cards also..

wanna know if this brick code is still present? is there a risk of bricking my 3DSXL?

Gateway removed bricking code along time ago. Also you don't need a gateway card anymore you can use rxTools which is free.
100% positive, please use sky3ds.
Come on don't screw around with the guy almost every post you make is rude/trollsy

can you run roms on rxtools?
not exactly, you can't run .3ds or .3dz, but you can install CIA's, which act mostly the same way as if you bought it from the Eshop, and as such, it may take some time to install (take ~15 minutes per Go when installing) that is prettymuch the only drawback RxTools (or any uptodate CFW) had compared to GateWay, but with CIA's, there are no headers, so you can play online pretty much safe.

Yes in the CIA format simply install them using bigbluemenu or devmenu (which you can install using FBI)

Also you can close the consoles lid while games install.

The brick code is still there it's just much harder to accidently trigger. Even back in Jan 2014 when the controversy was in full steam (only on GW firm 2.01b), it was mostly clone users with ripped-off GW firmwares who were getting bricked. Very few legit owners.

You're far more likely to brick with rxtools now than with gateway.

Tips:
avoid manual updating with GW or rxtools in sysnand (unless using "dev mode" in rxtools)
stay away from injection features like "cool stuff" in rxtools.

I see you can backup before installing rxtools.. can't you do a restore in case of a brick?
