Launching alongside the standalone version of massive Wii U role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles X on Dec. 4 is a Special Edition overflowing with great content. Perfect for fans who want to experience everything Xenoblade Chronicles X has to offer, players who purchase the Special Edition at a suggested retail price of $89.99 will get a beautifully designed package that contains:
  • The Xenoblade Chronicles X game
  • A gorgeous book of concept art with more than 100 pages, featuring select art for the very first time
  • A unique USB drive modeled after the game's "Lifehold Unit," pre-loaded with a selection of 10 music tracks from the game's memorable soundtrack
  • A limited-edition matted 5x7 art card of a painting done for the game by illustrator Takashi Kojo
Unique to North America, this Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition is now available for pre-order at select retailers nationwide.

Xenoblade Chronicles X comes from acclaimed developers Monolith Soft, the creators of Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii console. In this new game, Earth is destroyed and humanity faces annihilation from an intergalactic war between two alien races. Players must fight for their survival and explore a new planet full of exotic and hostile life-forms. To traverse the planet with ease, players can pilot customizable mechs called "Skells," which give them powerful weapons. Players can also customize a lethal skill set of combat and defensive skills called Arts to strengthen their strategies and defeat enemies efficiently.

Oh I wonder if there will be any special edition version released over here in Europe too. That's a beautiful box though, and the book looks cool!

Nintendo Germany at least announced one here for us, so maybe the rest of Europe also gets one?

Heard that a horrible company is doing the localization, one that arbitrarily censors and removes chunks of content because they personally do not like the way it is done.
Anyone got any insight?

Still no way AFAIK to preorder it in Canada (without paying an extra $20-$30 for shipping, on an item that already costs $120CAD). If it turns out that no Canadian retailer sells this then I think I'll just buy the USB off of ebay separately.

I'm interested in getting the game alone, this special edition looks nice, adds a bit more incentive. I never played Xenoblade games, and I'm not too versed in RPGs, so kind of popping the proverbial cherry with this.

3...2...1.... And its gone!!!!! No seriously it gone at least from Amazon which was the first place to list it. At the moment that I posted this Amazon were the only ones offering it. Others will most likely follow suit but it will probably sell out fast.

Pretty funny when they complained the game was too difficult and risky to localize and release. Now it's on three platforms and all physical releases and some special editions to boot.

I hope that's not true. I really liked the localization of the first one. Probably wouldn't make sense to use the same people, though, since the humans in this game should probably be voiced by Americans due to the city being Los Angeles and all.

Would've considered pre-ordering the SE but 8-4 having a hand in localizing is setting off some red flags and warning sirens for me due to their...questionable work and intentions on FE:A. Probably gonna pass (since honestly I'm not that attached to Xenoblade and getting an SE for what little it has) and see if the localization is okay before deciding whether to get the standard or not and at what price.

something something region-lock mumble mumble

I thought I read this special edition is THE ONLY PHISICAL RELEASE of the game?
Standard version will be digital only?
