I posted this over in the Hacking section, but I don't think that was right....

Hello there GBATemp!

I've been lurking here for a while, for all my game-modding needs. I finally decide to create this account to ask a question of my own.

Here it is: how do I get my Wii ISO's to run with USB Loader GX? I have the .iso on my computer, but all the tutorial's I've seen are for Windows machines, and I'm on a Mac.

Who could give me a complete walk through on how to run the ISO's?

Take this with a pinch of salt. I don't know what tools Max users have available so here's a manual way to do it:

Well, one way it could work is just copy the ISOs to the WBFS folder on whatever partition you intend to run them from and make sure the respective game ID is part of each ISO's name in brackets. Just use EXT2 for the partition you intend to use so you don't have to split anything.

Download 'Wii Game Manager' (google it) and download it. Use it to convert your .iso to .wbfs. Now make a folder in your USB Loader GX usb/hard drive called 'wbfs'.
In this folder make another folder for one of your games in this format: <Your game name... this can be anything your like> <[your game ID]>
Example for mario kart wii: "Mario Kart Wii [RMCP01]"
And inside this folder put your <game ID>.wbfs. For example: RMCP01.wbfs
So say you have 1 game on your HDD. Lets use mario kart as an example. It should look like this: \wbfs\Mario Kart Wii [RMCP01]\RMCP01.wbfs
And USB Loader GX will recognise this. Good Luck.

Actually, it will do fine directly in the WBFS folder, so you can just have: USB:/WBFS/Mario Kart Wii [RMCP01].wbfs
Just wanted to point out both are viable so the OP wouldn't see your post and mine conflicting.

Wow, thank you! I'm going to try this now. Does this mean I can store my .wbfs games on the same drive as where my GC ISO's are? The M-DOS FAT one?

EDIT: Could you link me to the Wii Game Manager? I can't seem to find a Mac version.

I found a program online called WiiJManager that seems to accomplish the same thing. I ran it and made it convert to .wbfs onto my hdd.

My HDD:
+ HDD
++ games
+++ <insert gc games here>
++ wbfs
+++ The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword [SOUE01]
++++ SOUE01.wbfs
++++ SOUE01.wbf1

It doesn't show up in my USB Loader GX menu. Is there something I did wrong?
This drive is formatted as M-DOS FAT, as an Master Boot Record.

Yep, it should automatically split any files over 4GB.

Great. I did what was told to me but it didn't seem to work. Any tips?

Go into USB Loader GX's settings and configure the Hard Drive settings. Also make sure Wii Games are selected in the top menu in the home menu.

Everything looks right? I'll check out the settings on the Wii now. Trying to convert using the WitGUI app the other kind friend listed.

IT WORKED! Thank you so much, I just forgot to enable Wii games in the menu.

Thank you very much! THANKS! I'm so happy. Any games to recommend? :)

Thank you very much to the other users who replied to. Extremely helpful. :)

Any games to recommend?
There really aren't many games I enjoy on the Wii strictly. Here's a few, though:

Metroid Prime 3 (it's probably the weakest of the three and the controls are terrible, but it's still enjoyable)
Donkey Kong Country Returns (the best version in my opinion. It's also on 3DS, but has performance issues on there)
Kirby's Return to Dreamland (it's not too bad. I've been playing through it with my girlfriend)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl (I'd recommend looking into Project M)
Cave Story (Though Cave Story+ on PC I'd recommend more, especially for the price)
Punch-Out! (It's a fun little quirky game)
Super Paper Mario (I'm generally not into JRPGs but the Paper Mario series I like, though it seems to be the weakest, not including the 3DS Paper Mario)
Okami (though it's better on PS3)

Those are some off the top of my head.

Also try some game mods such as the famours Newer Super Mario Bros Wii. Keep in mind that many people will tell you that you need an original copy of the game and this app called riivolution to run modded games but just ignore them. All you need to do is, like other games, torrent the modded wbfs game.

I was just reading over Project M as the other user suggested, and it's pretty damn cool. Didn't know modded games like these existed. I'll check that one out. Any other recommend mods?

Wow. I was wrong when I thought iso's were the only thing I could do with a modded Wii. Thank you so much! I'll keep your username handy when I have some questions. :P
Ahh feel free to message me if you need help! I'm at school so there are many blocked websites so I couldn't search the links for the online patcher soz. I'm using Gbatemp.net using a proxy lol (a way to bypass blocked websites but doesn't unblock all websties unfortunately)
