North Americans! Get your level 70 shiny Rayquaza now! (OR/AS only)

5tWaF7M.png
From August 10th to the 31st in Australia you are allowed to get a shiny Rayquaza through a serial code obtained at EB games.

As a pleasant surprise, North Americans can now receive the legendary Pokemon as well starting on August 12th through the in-game mystery gift option. All that you need is a copy of either Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire and an internet connection to your 3DS. This Rayquaza is shiny, at level 70, and knows the move Dragon Ascent so it is able to mega evolve. The event ends on September 14th, 2015.

So if you have a copy of Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire be sure to get him while you can!

um... phHex?
True, if that's what you're in to. Not everyone finds PkHex as satisfactory. And even so it would be unbelievable to hack in a shiny Rayquaza and try to convince people it's legit. Though I suppose if you hack in this exact copy then it can be believed... But you may as well just grab this one! Some people feel a little more pride about obtaining the Pokemon on their own or through an event. At any rate, not everyone can even use PkHex without either an exploitable system or an extra tool.

I already have it nyahnyah :)
Dang Vins that's cool!

Sweet, Ill be sure to grab mine ASAP
Get 'em while they're hot!

I never understood that mentality. Anyone who truly believed they should earn their own Pokemon should only get Rayquaza, or any other special Pokemon, in the wild. Why would anyone like that believe they earned a special Pokemon just because they happened to connect to the internet in a specific time frame? I know slippery slopes aren't that great, but I could easily imagine someone saying "Hey, I was on vacation when Super Mega Ultra Shiny Mewtwo Z was being given out. That's not fair to me. I'm gonna use PKhex to get it. It was free anyway." Now, if the Pokemon was unable to legitimately catch at all, I could see someone who believes they should earn their Pokemon use PKhex, but you don't even have to trade to get Rayquaza. It's catch-able in this very game.

And don't even get me started on the fact that players are essentially punished for playing Day One (by missing out on events like this) or by not living in Japan.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo America releases an update that blocks ironhax in a few hours. Thus catching people off guard if they try and snag this legendary shiny.

Seems to be rather well-designed. http://www.serebii.net/games/currentevents.shtml

Then there's always the official Pokemon page: http://3ds.pokemon-gl.com/calendar/

I'd imagine there's some kind of feed or thread out there that is updated with every new event, so if you really don't want to visit one of those sites every month, you should be able to get notified immediately.

Really, it depends on the person. I'm worried about a slippery slope myself as I hacked back during the GBA days and it ruined it for me. Not going to let that happen again. Really it's all up to the individual person. But I totally see your point even if we don't agree.

If that was the plan then they should have waited until the update was ready. I don't think this has anything to do with it. Besides, I got it on my 9.5 emuNAND 3DS because I block the update servers. You don't have to be up to date to get it.

Hey, I'll keep that in mind! I was a bit worried that people wouldn't find the events newsworthy but the feedback is pretty positive. I'll be sure to keep you all up to date whenever I can.

I only play Pokémon Red...all my pokes are caught in the wild and farm raised on a GBC powered with AA batteries manufactured before 1995.

I just don't like anything that wasn't original. Only play under incandescent bulbs too. #justsayin

Rayquaza and the rest of the Weather Trio, and Deoxys, are shiny locked on ORAS, so this event is really special for North Americans. We don't get shit, Japanese and Koreans get a lot more.

Shiny locked? Does that mean that it's impossible to get a shiny north American legend without an event?
