I'm thinking about picking one up, but figured I'd ask for some opinions here first. I understand there will probably be compatibility issues later on with games, for the library of games it DOES work with, is it worth picking one up? I don't have a firmware compatible with a Gateway, so a Sky is my only option. I'm no stranger to flashcards, but I've never spent close to $100 for one either... so I guess I just want someone to say whether or not I should pick one up or just keep waiting and stop updating my 3DS.

How's the build quality? Should I be worried about it breaking quickly? I'm careful, but again, the price..

Build quality of the Sky3DS is actually better than the Gateway. However, there are already new games (Fire Emblem IF & the new Animal Crossing) that won't work with the Sky3DS. Not sure if it's worth investing into now.

Well, Gateway is simpler IMO, but if you have 9.2+ this is your best bet, at least you have a huge library of games for now, if you're not really excited about the currently new announced games then go for it.

If you want to save some money buy a QQ3DS, it's a clone but it comes with a DS cart also, so you get more for your money.

You already said everything but still there are many games you can play like pokemon omega and many more, so it isnt that bad. Some people probably wait for 9.3+ support but we never going to know when its gonna be released it can take months or years.

Its up to you

Thanks for the replies, guys. I was actually thinking about picking up a N3DSXL maybe when another bundle comes out (I currently have the original 3DS) and using it for online, staying up to date, new games, etc. and using my original 3DS with the Sky3DS to screw around with, even if it's just with the library of games up to this point. I just wanted to make sure I didn't spend 90 bucks on one of these things and then that little button breaking a week in or so. Ya know? Maybe I'll just wait until it's cheaper. I dunno, I'm stuck.

Explain to me how the build quality is better than the GW?
Well I don't know about the internals, but the microSD slots on the Sky3DS >>>>> Gateway's

The Gateway doesn't hold the mSD card tight enough. Alot of the 'filesystem errors' or 'card was ejected' errors are from a poor connection with the microSD card and not with the microSD itself.

At the very least, I'm 3 for 3. 3 Gateway cards with faulty microSD slots.

Faulty mSD slots? Must be on some other forum because I haven't see shit about that or what system it was on.

Absolutely pick one up now if you want to start playing games on >9.2, it's a solidly built card. I think it will be a long while more before sky comes up with a new version that bypasses the new anti-sky measures. As for Gateway, well..it's called Gatewait for a reason.

sky3ds is solid and simple to use. personally I would wait to see how the sky3ds team responds to the new protection, maybe they'll figure out a workaround or announce a new card revision. if you've waited this long a few more weeks wont kill you and then youll be sure what to expect.

If you want to play n3ds games on your eventual n3ds I have a good feeling other then the released games their won't be many n3ds exclusives that will play.

If you have time wait to see if a green button sky3ds appears that patches the new anti piracy checks

It affected gateway? I thought it only affected sky3ds type cats.

"...After we noticed issues surrounding some of the latest game backups not functioning
as 3DS files but working just fine as CIA files, we decided to investigate.

What we discovered was truly remarkable: a new kind of antipiracy check! Yes, that’s right!
This took us five minutes to fix and here we are today......" - official GW site
