Hi all,
Im interested in installing CFW on my 3DS XL v9.2, Ive no gateway or 3ds flashcard, is it possible to install CFW and run roms etc on my 3DS? Sorry if this has already been answered but I cant seem to find some definate info or a solid easy to follow tutorial. Thanks in advance.

Yes. Install rxTools, make an emuNAND, then on emuNAND, install and run FBI to be able to insallt CIA files (Backups.)

I'm not sure of how much you CAN do, but make sure to download Ironfall: Invasion for free on the store. That title is supposedly linked to a new exploit that's on the way.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but are flashcarts such as the R4i Gold able to use the GBA backup tool with a DS Lite? I'm interested in backing up my Leafgreen, Emerald, and Ruby so I can replace the batteries in the second too as well as make new games without losing all of my old stuff. Thanks.

I got a couple more noob questions about the current N3DS CFW/Emunand situation.

Just how strong is the encryption, or whatever that is stopping Gateway and the community from getting emunand 9.6 and above running on the N3DS? Is it reasonably possible in the near'ish future (1 year or so) for us to start seeing 9.6+ emunand on the N3ds?

I think the current 3DS scene is great, and I have a lot of respect and gratitude for those who work tirelessly on making the 3DS ever greater against all odds, but it's just that I've been holding on to 9.1J for a while now, and I would like to know if what I'm hoping for the N3ds is even feasible (regularly updated emunand with homebrew and .cia support). It just would make the wait a lot easier to at least have a basic idea on what actually needs to be done for this barrier to be broken, and what is the general consensus on the likelihood of the emunand barrier for 9.6 and beyond being successfully broken on the N3DS.

For 9.3+ Ninjhax 2.0 is what you have access to in terms of homebrew currently. There is a list of some homebrew applications here: http://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Applications

If you want to run roms, currently the only option for 9.3+ 3DSes is Sky3DS.

I hear some people r getting banned / 3DS bricked by doing this.

I don't believe there's been any reported cases of bans or bricks from using a DS flashcart with a 3DS.

2. I think someone here mentioned that there was some kind of signature glitch with 9.5 .cia on Reinand that wasn't an issue with Pasta CFW. Too bad Pasta does not have emunand, so I might have to wait a little more to see if a new version of Reinand gets released and corrects this issue, assuming I didn't read that wrong, that is. I'm tempted to install pasta too, but still a bit worried about the lack of emunand. I also didn't know Rxtools was coming up for the N3DS, so that's a nice surprise. Any idea on how they are progressing, or if there's rough release date of sorts?

I found this thread on the topic, but don't want to bump it's pretty old. I dumped my cart with GW and want to convert the save to SKY, wondering if it's possible to maybe extract the save from the full cart image and convert it somehow?

I have a few questions.
1. is it safe to go online? my emunand is updated to the latest update as of yesterday. Is spotpass safe?

1: It's not safe. You'll need to inject public or private headers into your roms.
2: These should be fine. Be sure to update your emuNAND backup once in a while.
3: I believe there's an extractor but I don't have an answer for this one.

There's a few posts in the rxTools thread that say it's being worked on, but don't say much as to its completion or if it will offer all of the features the O3DS version has. We'll have to see what the 3.0 release has in store and if they mention anything further on it.

Have you checked "that iso site" to see if the games you're looking for are on there? If they are, somebody should be able to cryptofix them.

I have a N3DS XL with a gateway emunand on a 32gb micro SD card, how would i go about transferring my emunand and the rest of the contents of the 32gb micro SD to a 64 gb micro SD card, I will be using it on the same system but I want all my CIA's to be transferred too so i don't have to reinstall each and every single one of them. I need more storage hence the transfer. any help would be appreciated as I am just a pleb compared to all the 3ds overlords in this thread. both have already been formatted to FAT32

First, format emuNAND on the new SD card. Copy all of the files on the old SD card to your PC and use emuNAND tool to extract the emuNAND. Use emuNAND tool to inject your emuNAND backup to the new SD card and copy all of the files that were on the old SD to the new one.

I did what you said, I can successfully transfer my emunand over but all my CIA games are not present, where did I go wrong? I used emunand tool to copy my old emunand to the 64gb micro sd then copied the rest of the files from the 32g to the 64.

I tried to do some searching here, after your last post, and assuming I didn't read it wrong, it appears that rxTools N3ds support might be coming in a few days, and possibly even followed by an emunand release in a week or two!

Oh, good idea! I guess I'll give that a shot. I'll just wait for 3dsdb to update their list so I know the minimum firmware requirements first, I guess. FYI, I'm interested on Daigyakuten Ryuunosuke no Bouken, Corpse Party: Repeated Fear (both unknown firmware), and especially Fire Emblem Special If + Fates DLC (3rd campaign) cryptofixed to 9.5. I think FE If + DLC cryptofixed seems like a really difficult request though, so I'm not sure if someone will really go through with it, or if it's even possible to cryptofix and add DLC all in the same release.
