Hacking Any solutions for a bricked Wii U from an update gone wrong yet?

Fortunately mine is fine, but I absolutely hate updates on these new consoles and every time one is in progress I fear the power would go out or something would go wrong and I'll end up with a bricked, impossible to fix system.
I'd say the worst is the Wii U, I've read so many horror stories of people having theirs brick on them due to evne the tiniest power outages and I know a guy whose system bricked over a split second of power outage that I honestly am completely terrified every time I update.

As of late in my area there have been completely random power outages for some reason and you can imagine just how I feel about that, especially since they happen without reason or rhyme, I'm getting Yoshi's Woolly World soon for my bday and hoping to God it won't require an update to play

Keep in mind, contacting Nintendo and sending the system for repairs is downright impossible from my country, it would cost more than buying a new Wii U which is expensive as all hell as is.
I've had mine for a year or two now, problem free but I'll be damned if I'm not worried.

Depending on your internet connection type (dial-up, DSL, cable, fiber, ect). You could get an UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and plug your Wii U and your modem/whatever you need to connect to your internet to it. [This of course assuming that when the power goes out, your internet is on a different line]

I've been looking into those for some time now, but they're too bulky and I have no room for one, tho I guess it's the only solution.
I think the internet going out during the downloading process isn't that bad, the download I believe resumes where it left of or starts over, but if the power goes out during the actual installation process of the update the system is toast.

I don't understand why Nintendo haven't implemented some sort of fail safe mechanics, I believe both the PS3 and PS4 have this where they let you unbrick using an USB drive and such if you're lucky.

I hate firmware updates, they should be kept to an absolute minimum or have systems have fail safe mechanics and the ability to restore to a non corrupted state.

I'm always worried about that too, since I don't want my console to become a brick if something were to fail. I really do hope that the NX has some kind of fallback, say, a recovery mode that lets you install from SD/USB in the event that a brick occurs.

Could Nintendo possibly patch something like that in for the Wii U?
Also is there any progress on hacking the system so it would have a bootmii like thing that loads before everything else and essentially protects the system from bricking?

WTF?? If you have no unauthorized software on the wii u all you do is call "N" with the WUP error you get and with a working internet connection usually they can repair while on the phone with you. If not I am pretty sure they pay the shipping. If I remember correctly there is a procedure they may have "your friend" do to fix this. I think it involve holding the power button on the console for so many seconds then pulling the power plug while still holding the button down and something else.
But honestlly your friend did something to his/ her console the update didn't do it. If the update is in progress then power goes out it just restarts downloading. Once the update fully downloads then the installation procedure starts. If the power is removed during the update then the console boots in the background while all you see is a white screen. Then the console will back itself to the last useable firmware and attempt the install again. If you get a wup error it is simply because you screwed up patching vwii cios.Or during your power surge/outage your console fried a component.
The console has a safemode installed you just don't have access to it. It also has the ability to revert to the previous firmware you just don't have access to it either.
I am gonna guess they have a pretty good reason for locking users out of those areas.
I had one out of warranty take a crap on me not too long ago and I sent it in. "N" paid the shipping and sent me a brand new console completely free of charge.
If you don't modify the consoles software or hardware you really have absolutely nothing to worry about.
Hell, the one I sent in wouldn't sync the gamepad to the console and the console was giving a wup error. I called they paid postage and shipped me a brand new one.
Really the only thing I can complain about with the wii u is lack of third party games or games for adults in general.
Oh yeah they also moved all my save data to the new console. It was like I got my old one back in working condition except it was a new one.

So the first wave of Wii U's didn't have any safe mode. It if failed in the middle of the download, which was a huge one, the Wii U was bricked.

This is where I stopped reading and I'll be brutally honest, this is the main problem I have with westerners, Americans mostly.
Notice the flag under my username and avatar? That's not America, that's not even part of the EU so no I do NOT "just call N" in a situation like this.
Nintendo does not support Macedonia nor is it easy and affordable to send out an entire system and not be taxed to hell and back when it comes back to you(if it does that is)

Well, I'm in the same status, Nintendo doesn't support Argentina at all, I never had a problem with their consoles, my Wii U is from launch, and in the current days I have 0 problems with it, however I don't know what would I do if it gets broken since Nintendo Supports Little to no countries in Latin America, Chile is supported, but Brazil no (It was supported in the past, but seems Nintendo gone from there). Sony supports Argentina but the prices they have are trash, GTA V for example is 103.50 dollars and in PS store from USA is 60.00 dollars (of course I bought from USA, Sony doesn't even let me to pay in my local money.)

Maybe you can try to ask in a email to Nintendo Europe or something like that, sorry if I can't help you so much, but at least I want you to know that Latin America in general is in the same state.
