Hacking Ace Combat 3D:Cross Rumble + : update v2.1, stuck on 3ds logo

So I updated Ace + to the latest v2.1 today.

Since then the game doesn't boot anymore, it gets stuck at the 3DS logo indefinitely. :/

I'm on GW9.5 emunand on N3DS. Previous update v2.0 worked just fine.

I suspect this new v2.1 requires a higher firmware than 9.5...

Is there a solution to this, like editing the .cia to lower the fw requirement or something?

As, if not, I guess I won't be able to use it as long as Gateway N3DS highest emunand possible is 9.5..

You would need a hard mod to attempt to get it to work. I get mine back next week from being fixed and if it hasn't been dumped I'll take a crack at it.

Newer games and updates for the n3ds require 9.6+. With a hard mod you're able to update to 9.9, download through eshop and then xor the 9.9 nand. Once decrypted repack it for use on 9.5 emu

Yes this is the current method to crypto fix games.

New patches require 9.6+ Firmware.

Unless the patches had been modified, we wouldn't be able to fix this problem on emuNAND 9.5-.

I know what he said.
1) DL this patch on 9.9
2) Dump the 9.9 NAND
3) Generate the 9.9 NAND's FAT16 xorpad
4) Decrypt the 9.9 NAND
5) Use Winimage to open the decrypted NAND to find out the patch's key
6) Decrypt the patch with the key
7) Re-pack the decrypted patch files
8) Install the re-packed patch CIA
We can easily do the 1-5 with rxTools emuNAND 9.9.
But for 6-8 I have no idea.

Currently grabbing Smash update 1.1.0 and expecting the same problem with it..

edit: neat, Smash 1.1.0 installed and works great on emunand GW9.5.

New GW v3.4 fixed this!
The Ace+ update v2.1 now works fine on my N3DS 9.5.
Guessing it's the improved fw spoofing..
