These screens look a lot brighter and better than that video footage which was dark as hell.

Well, Super Mario 64 is normally a very brightly colored game, and those screens look considerably darker than SM64 usually does.
I agree with you though, the video looks much darker. Maybe it depends on the game that's injected into, they could have different preset brightness levels.
