Could somebody please explain how I would go about doing this?

I'm fairly new to Gateway. I have a Smash Bros retail cart, and Sysnand & Emunand on 9.2

The update will be released this week. How do I go for it?

Make sure you have emuNAND set up - Can be created from the GW menu when you launch it.

1. Download BigBlueMenu.3ds or DevMenu.3ds - Place on SD card for GW
2. Download BigBlueMenu.cia or DevMenu.cia - Place on internal SD card for 3DS
3. Download MultiPatcher.cia from the forums here - https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-free-multi-patcher.391945/
4. Launch GW Mode in emuNAND and run BigBlueMenu or DevMenu ROM
5. Press right on the DPad until you see your internal SD card folder structure
6. Install the FreeMultiPatcher and BBM or DevMenu CIA files
7. Run FreeMultiPatcher from your home menu - Press Start after it launches
8. Launch eShop, make sure you can get to it, you should be able to. If not check step 7 again.
9. Go to this page on your computer, scroll to the bottom and scan the QR code in eShop - http://en-americas-support.nintendo...-to-update-super-smash-bros.-for-nintendo-3ds
10. Install the update
11. Run GW classic mode and your cart should now be running on the latest version

Download and install the Free Multi Patcher:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-free-multi-patcher.391945/

This will let you access the eshop without any problems while on gateway 9.2

When the smash update comes out, simply update it as you normally would. Or you can wait for a certain iso site to upload the update as a cia and install that.

This cart is a different story. The updates aren't openly available on eShop anymore and have to be accessed while in game or right before launching the game. MultiPatcher doesn't work in classic mode unless its installed to sysNAND.

Oh, sorry - I missed the part where he mentioned classic mode. However, in the future it may be easier to use a downloaded .3ds copy of Smash to simply boot and update in gateway mode, then switch to classic mode to play the retail game.

It would have to be a .3dz. I tried that but it wouldn't let me go online with the DLC cia installed.

Really? I'll have to try when I get home. I know I installed the DLC CIA's, updated in-game and it ran without any problems on my end, but I never tried going online. The more you know, thanks Max

No problem. My biggest hurdle was trying to get my retail cart save into GW mode so I could use the DLC. I just caved and bought the DLC in classic mode though using NTR. Figure I could at least give Ninty SOME money to keep them going haha.
