Hacking [Questions] GBA Ambassador, CFW, and Gateway

Hello. I'm currently using a US 3DS xl on 4.2 sysnand and 9.9 emunand with Gateway 3.3. I've lately learnt that playing GBA by help of the Ambassador and its injection requires CFW. I've tried installing PASTA CFW using this guide

and had issues at around step 8, so I resorted to trying to use rxTools.
I've been able to successfully reach the menu, but that's about it, trying to boot into rxmode sysnand returns me to normal sysnand, and rxmode emunand gives a black screen. So here are my questions:

1) Simply confirming, is it absolutely impossible to play GBA games full speed on Gateway?

2) Would it be possible to use both Gateway and a CFW (note that I do have 2 SD cards, the 4GB that came with the 3DS and a 32GB that I've upgraded to)?

3) Which CFW would be best to use for the sole purpose of playing GBA games?

4) How can I install said CFW without the Cubic Ninja game, if possible at all?






UPDATE: I've upgraded my sysnand to 8.1 and after doing so I managed to boot rxMode via browser exploit on emunand 9.9 and successfully boot GBA games. Gateway mode worked perfectly too. However, the blue gateway card, and therefore, I no longer had access to DS games nor DS Profile exploit. So i find myself between two rather imperfect situations

1) sysnand 4.2, emunand 9.9, gateway only. DS and 3DS games only.

2) sysnand 8.1, emunand 9.9, gateway and rxTools. GBA and 3DS games only.

It goes without saying that it'd be dangerous to upgrade and downgrade my sysnand frequently, and I have tried installing the bluecardfix.cia from Gateway, but that didn't fix my blue card on 8.1. So here again I find myself asking what to do in order to get GBA, DS, and 3DS games working together without having to upgrade/downgrade my sysnand everytime I want to play GBA/DS games on my 3DS.

2. Yes, even on a single SD
3. Any. Personally I use rxTools for GBA and GW for everything else
4. Follow a tutorial. Since you are on 4.2, you can use any CFW you want with just the MSET exploit or browser exploit

Thank you, samiam114, but I still find problems installing\booting rxTools, I can use the MSET exploit and reach the rxTools 2.6 menu, but booting sysnand doesn't work (reboots to ver 4.2 rather than rxMode) and emunand gives a black screen, any advice on the matter?

I think it's supposed to say Ver. 4.2 when you boot sysNAND rxMode. It used to say RX-S in sys and RX-E in emu but that was changed to just saying RX3D in emuNAND in some recent version.
AFAIK, the ambassador games will only load from sysNAND anyway. If you have them installed on both sysNAND and emuNAND they can be loaded from emuNAND but will still be booting the sysNAND version of it so it seems a bit pointless.
Do you have the slot0x25keyX and firmware.bin? emuNAND rxMode will probably not work without them.

If you have two sd cards, the easiest way is to do this.
- Put the gateway launcher.dat on the second sd card.
- Put devmenu.3ds on your gateway micro-sd card and BBM.cia/devmenu.cia + the patched agb_firm on your sd card
- Boot into gateway mode on sysnand and use devmenu to install bbm/devmenu.cia + the patched agb_firm
- Then replace your launcher.dat with this one : http://gbatemp.net/threads/release-pasta-cfw-without-cubic-ninja-mset-4-x-old3ds.389498/
- Now you can use gba games on that sd card without having to switch between the gateway mset and rxtools mset every time.

I do have both slot0x25keyX and firmware.bin. I don't see any indicator suggest wither I'm in normal sysnand or rxMode.
Trying VerseHell's method, which is to my understanding was merely using the empty SD card and installing BBM.cia on it with gateway and replacing gateway's launcher.dat with the laucher.dat from pasta cfw didn't work. I managed to install BBM, and it appeared on the sysnand, but pasta cfw didn't work, I'm assuming that I need more than simply the launcher.dat from pasta and now going to try to get the rest of the files, unless they aren't needed.

Weird, it should work, are you launching it from the system settings ? What's happening ?

Same as the Gateway, system Settings, Other Setting, Profile, DS. I get a double white screen, followed shortly by a double black screen, which last moments before throwing me back to sysnand and deleting BBM for some reason.

I'm giving up on fixing it. I intend to upgrade my sysnand to ver 8 using MH4U, use the browser exploit to downgrade mset and free the bluegatewaycard. Any advice before doing so?
