Hacking When the Wii U's hacked, could it play DS/3DS games?

I take it this would require an emulator but with Nintendo releasing DS games on the eShop could it possibly help the hackers to make this project any easier? The Wii U has a wannabe-tablet which could act as both screens or divided the two by one on the TV and one on the GamePad.

Nintendo's not the type to make a micro-console to play handheld games like Sony did with the PlayStation TV so this might be as close as we'll get to 3DS games on a home console.

By the way, yes I know DS/3DS don't look very good on big screens but it always interests me to play them on a TV and with a traditional controller (if possible).

fail0verflow did hack Wii U mode in the 30 days after release, but never published the exploit.
yeah i misread that post as "i had a hacked one 30 days after launch"....rather than "someone hacked it and its never going to be released by them"....kinda pointless bringing something up that is private and never going to be shared as it helps nobody and just confuses people, for example ---->
what? this is the first i'm reading about this. that's ridiculous, you know someone should really make a thread about that and make it "sticky" for that matter then we would of known.

i think its pretty obvious that the OP was referring to a hack being publicly available rather than "omg guys once someone privately has a hacked wiiu do you think they can privately play NDS/3DS games on their wii u while everyone else cant" :P

Um, Wii U has been hacked. It got hacked 30 days after launch.

A lot of good that did the hacking scene ;O; :creep: We know it was hacked, but it was unreleased, so really, it didn't do much good initially. At least the Wii U runs DS games full speed through the VC, which is full blown emulation.

It wasn't exactly Wii U mode. It was a hack to enable accessing Wii U hardware in vWii mode. In other words, it was a hack of the vWii compatibility layer. Nevermind, I remembered wrong.

A lot of good that did the hacking scene -_-
Apparently fail0verflow contacted various devs and there wasn't enough interest in developing a framework around it so that it could actually be made into something useful for the end user. Instead years later, we're getting native Wii U mode-homebrew, which I guess is better anyway.
