but all they had was a r4i sdhc dual core, which I had never heard of before? After some research, both it and the r4i gold are pretty much the same. Which is better, and is PeachDS.com a 100% reliable site if I choose the dual core?

Ps
I'm going to play on a DS Lite if that matters. I also have a 3DS but am not worried about playing 3ds games on a flashcart.

Pps
I heard the DStwo and Acekard2i can emulate Nes GBC and Snes games, running a homebbrew emulator, can either the r4i gold 3ds rts or the r4i sdhc dual core run any of those emulators?

Thanks in advance for answering any of my questions, it's going to be my first time buying a flash cart and I am super excited.

I don't know about which websites are reliable, so I'll skip that question

I have a Dual Core, and NES, SNES and Game Boy/Color emulators work great. There's also a Game Boy Advance emulator for DS, but it's hard to set up, and has a tiny compatibility list, most games end up glitchy. If you want proper GBA emulation, you should get a DSTwo

R4 dual core are crap. I owned one, which had slow sd access, unupdatable and had major compatibility problem. It also "bricked" after I tried to use YSmenu. I highly recommend you to get a super card dstwo. And NDS-Card is reliable and accept paypal. But expect slow shipping, 2-3 weeks.

Yeah from what I heard about dual core is that it's one of those cards that drops support soon. R4i Gold 3DS Rts from Nds-card would be a safe, efficient buy? I'm going to use a DS Lite only, would NES SNES and GB/C emulators work fine?

Thanks for answering my questions VinsCool.

Now, just to clarify, so I dont f*** up. I'm going to order r4i gold from use on my DS Lite. Aside from being able to play ds games, I will be able to run NES and SNES games? Will the SNES games be good quality (no lag, sound issues, etc) want to know because I want to play Super Metroid for the first time.

That card will be fine for NES (NesDS) and GBC (Gameyob) emulation, but if you want half decent SNES emulation, you'll need a DSTwo, although I probably would hold off with that at the moment as the save state menu constantly locks up in the GBA and Snes emulators on the new DSTwo's.

Yes, but you won't be able to just stick the NES and SNES games on the card and be good to go, you'll need emulators.
SNES emulation is OK on the R4i Gold, it depends on the game you're trying to play and what emulator you're using. lolSnes didn't work at all for me, I believe the other one is Snemul? Anyways, Snemul has some layer issues with games, and from what I've observed, it seems like the worst layer issues are with EarthBound and Donkey Kong Country. I don't remember there being any sound issues, and I believe there was little to no lag in every game I played.

Well that stinks, where's there use case causes on the new cards posted at? I just got mine in the mail today and am setting it up this weekend. Hopefully the save state issue is resolved in a firmware/software update.

NES GBC will be fine -- SNES not so hot. This probably isn't helpful, since you want to emu on a DS, but if you want portable SNES emulation, think about a PSP. Easy to install CFW and emu SNES very well.

Great choice on Super Metroid btw :gba:

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
