it has been about 4 years now since the device was first announced back in 2011 , it released with some nice AAA games like :

- Gravity rush
- Uncharted : Golden abyss
- Need for speed most wanted
- Little Big Planet Vita
- Tearaway
- Killzone mercenary
and a lot of other games !

as for the PSM and all these indie "mini" games then nope , i don't like them ... i mean the device is so powerful , why not make some other big games ? japan is already releasing a game after another non-stop , but here in the outside world .... there is nothing ! like nothing at all (except for these bad indie games that can be played on some old consoles which aren't necessary , well JRPG is my taste in games so i am not one to talk , maybe other people love these little games , but come on Sony , use the device to the fullest ! at least try ...
anyway i am not here to talk about that .
-------------------
how's the vita doing in the hacking scene ? is there anyway for Sony to boost their console sale ? what if the vita's sales aren't enough for Sony ? how will they manage to boost them ?
i wonder if they are going to "mistakenly" leave a huge exploit in future updates for the hackers to use and boost the Vita's sales , would they ? like if they have nothing other than using the hackers help in boosting the sales ... i wonder if they would
i mean the PSP would have been dead after a year of releasing it if it wasn't for all these hacks and homebrew for it .
Sony is killing the Vita even more than it is already dead , give it a rest ! especially after calling it a "Legacy platform"
it's no use complaining though .
-------------------
what do you guys think ? would a day like this actually come ?

I'm sorry to say but Sony doomed the Vita since before it was released. Those proprietary memory cards are so expensive that they make owning the Vita a pain in the ass and hacking it Impractical. Not only is the Vita locked up tighter than Fort Knox but, even if you managed to fully unlock it, where would you store your backup Roms? The Vita has no internal storage and an array of security measures to make sure nobody can mess with it. I guess treating their costumers like criminals from the start really paid off for Sony. /sarcasm

Those memory cards alone cost an arm and a leg, in exchange you get some meager real estate and very slow performance due to the encryption process. It's a shame that Sony took so many steps to strangle this device since birth. Now even tough it has some amazing games that I would love to play, nobody wants to go near it, myself included.

I used to be a huge PSP fan but after getting the cold shoulder from Sony I moved to the 3DS, the graphics may not be amazing but it has a huge library of great games and JRPGs. It also has Micro SD cards and Nintendo doesn't threat us like shit unlike Sony. I'm not a fanboy and I don't want to see Sony fail but this way of doing business is what cause them to be walking the tight rope. If they continue going the way they're going and somehow fuck up the PS4 then they're as good as dead and I can't say I didn't see it coming.

/Rant

The vita will continue to be a machine filled with Japanese games and indies and not much else, and tbh, I'm ok with that. I really enjoy those games and they're what makes money on the vita. I can definitely see why it frustrates some people but its a library that works well with the existing userbase.

As great of a machine as the Vita is, Sony just doesn't care about the damn thing so instead of killing it off Sony's decided to make Vita a second screen / remote play device for PS4.

Nintendo and Sony should've just come together and made a unique portable gaming system for the 8th gen.

Sony = For a high quality handheld machine, Sony exclusives and multiplatforms
Nintendo = Nintendo games.

The Vita is actually huge in Japan, there are a ton of great Japanese games coming out for it even now, but unless you want to learn Japanese only to play Vita games, I don't see how it would be worth it. The costs of owning a Vita are just too damn high and Sony just doesn't care enough to fix it. With the money you would spend on the Vita and Memory cards and importing games you would be better off buying a PS4, a Video Card or a 3DS with a Gateway card.

Even Steam is bringing a ton of JRPGs and Japanese games so that is a better option too imo

Yea, I'm actually learning Japanese, but those Kanjis are like a brick wall. If it wasn't for that I may have picked up a Vita and started Importing some games. Maybe when I learn the first 1006 Grade 6 Kanji I'll give it a shot, but at this rate it feels like it will take 10 years...

To stay in topic, I guess even if it's the west it still Sony's fault. They're the ones who decided to make the Memory cards cost so much, why couldn't they price them more like SD cards? It's not just a measure against Piracy, it's just pure greed! It seems with every handheld they need to have a new proprietary storage device. Also, I think Sony could fix this easily, they just chose not to.

Sony made this special memory card for two things i think , 1- to prevent piracy (which isn't helping at all), and 2 (which is the most important) to match the Vita's price because it was lowered i think , and to match some other costs too ... idk that's what i heard.

and about Sony treating us like criminals , i fully agree , they are getting more and more stupid by time that i can't wait till hackers crack it open so that we can give the device some freedom , we can still buy games yes , but we can have some other things to do with this amazing powerful machine , and as time passes , pirates will find a way to copy games and publish them , Yifan lu isn't the only one who knows how to hack you know , just like what happened with the PSP ... it's coming and i can't say no to it , if it was pirated then it can't be helped , its Sony's fault , i will hack it and download games .

No? Literally the only reason they had to go with proprietary memory was because they were taking a loss on each Vita sold, and needed to make up for it in some way that allows them to reap all the benefits. Piracy has nothing to do with it...at all, and what do you mean "which isn't helping at all" since, y'know, there's literally 0 Vita's capable of piracy? The new Rejuvenate hack won't enable piracy, and if you honestly think PSP Mode hacks even effect Sony at all at this point then you're hilariously mistaken.

As for the Vita's future, contrary to popular belief, the Vita received a good amount of first party and western-styled games, the problem wasn't the software that killed the Vita in the west; marketing it was. They have nearly no advertisements regarding the Vita at all, and because of the lack of advertising there was an insane misconception about it's library and what it did or did not contain. Now, the only major area that contributes to Vita sales is Japan, and as such Japanese-styled games are what it get besides the random indie titles. Once Sony realized their mistake, they simple made the Vita a remote play/PS Now machine and left it at that for the West.

i didn't mean that the Vita is pirated or anything , i was talking about that it isn't necessary at all , the Vita is so secure that they didn't even need to make a new memory card type for it , they could have gone with the micro sd thing and that's it , but they had to avoid money loss .

The Vita's future is as a weeaboo and indie game machine. It's not going to sell gangbusters but it has attracted a small but dedicated following.

The Vita is my favourite handheld of all time because of the niche library.

As Zeriel said -- the Vita is actually doing good here - and there's (at least in my opinion) a MASSIVE effort from big companies (I'd say especially Bandai Namco) to localize the nicest games.
If anything 'doomed' the Vita in the West, it's the West.
By "here" you mean Japan but you've got the flag of Canada, so that's a bit confusing.

Despite that it's doing great in Japan, in the west it's more or less dead, sadly.

Well i am a weeabo so that's fine by me , indies aren't doing so well , and japan isn't localizing anything (except for a few with a very bad dub) , the Vita is so popular in japan that it even took over PS4 there , why not outside ?
i mean what's the differance between Japanese developers and other American and European ones ?
aren't they all the same ?

Yeah , it just doesn't feel original here , the PS4 is taking over everything so they made the Vita as a sub-console to use the PS4 , and that's what's keeping it alive in the west .
a lot of games are getting announced in japan one after another , like Tokyo Xanadu or Ray Gigant and so many others ... but i doubt them getting a localization though.

Not really. Portable gaming is alot bigger in Japan than the west. Over there its far more popular than consoles, while here its still looked at as something for children by alot of people. People dont realize what the vita is capable of, and when it had its chance to attract that western audience they didn't really want it.

At least they're localizing a decent chunk of the good ones. The kanji is the real barrier with learning Japanese and being good enough to play through a game

I find that text is just too important to most games to have any hope of playing them without at least some basic reading skills. Unfortunately that includes alot of kanji, which is rather difficult to learn. There are a few games that offer non kanji options like pokemon, so I'm trying to use those to get used to reading before I learn kanji

Haha Im working on my Kanji right now, I don't want to make you loose hope but Kana without Kanji is 100% useless.
Kana it's very important so you can use it to learn Kanji but unfortunately Kana is almost always NEVER used alone,
because even little kids in the 6th grade know over 1000 Kanji. I suggest you take a big breath, buckle up and start
hitting those Kanji hard every fucking day of your life. In a couple of months I got over 400 down lol :D
