Hacking Finally found a 9.0 N3DS. Few questions before buying.

1- Can I update to 9.2?

2- Can I play Smash Bros and MH4U (Both downloaded from eShop)

3- Any tips before doing anything stupid?

You need Cubic Ninja before you can install pasta CFW assuming you want to hack it since you've been looking for a <9.2 N3DS

You can probably update it to 9.2 assuming you find the right SSB cartridge to update it to 9.2 otherwise you can use sysupdater(but you need cubic ninja for that).

Yes you can play both games on that firmware

All versions of cubic ninja work, they just are getting pricy that's why I started the free services thread.

There's no reason to update to 9.2; emunand will be 9.5 once updated

Also you can play both on emunand by downloading from the eshop or installing the cia

Advice: Make a NAND backup. So many people have bricked their systems but not had a NAND backup, since they were basically idiots. You SHOULD especially backup the NAND BEFORE you install any non legit software/apps/games, as you get invalid tickets in your ticket.db.

This isn't much of a concern if you're installing junk on your emuNAND BUT you should still make a backup of your "fresh" NAND.

Three weeks ago, when i bought my new 3ds it was on fw 9.0 I felt soooo lucky at that moment. I installed pasta, but i couldn' t play smash bros nor xenoblade. I used firmlaunch, it was not what i expected. Now i have a 9.8 fw, waiting for Rxtools with pasta (some people telling me that it won't work because ninjhax 2.0 uses arm11 only exploit)

I also have monster hunter 4 which i play using a cartridge.
No need to update to 9.2.
As mentioned above you will need cubic ninja to launch the cfw.

As mentioned my WhoAmI, make a nand backup once you get cubic ninja before installing the cia files.

I had the cartridge and i wanted the DLC characters T.T. But still, i don' t totally trust CIA for online playing.

What i understood then was that firmlaunch only updates your console to the minimum required fw for a specific game. I downloaded the .bin file from PC, put it on micSD and later, on the 3ds i turned on "enable firm launch" option. If i did something wrong, dear Mr Prince, do not make my mistakes.

A week later y realized that region four could spoof mandatory updates

I think not all the OoT cartridges work

I believe oot will only launch the gateway menu and not ninjhax menu which is required for pasta cfw.
I have downloaded the monster hunter 4 dlc.
I havent downloaded the smash dlc.

You need cn to setup gateway for the first time. Once setup and updated to emunand 9.5 you can spoof and download from the eshop no problem

I think not all the OoT cartridges work

They all work, just need to figure out what save works for your card

Did you make a nand backup of your N3ds?
You may be able to hard mod it back to 9.0

But how did you buy those games? When i tried to acces eshop, before Ninjhax and its YG eshop spoofer, and the window askng for update appeared.

i already have a sky3ds (in wich i am playing xenoblade now). I think its safer than hard mod

Check your local Gamestop. It's a crapshoot but a few weeks ago I got a used copy of Cubic Ninja for only $20!
