Hi, I'm trying to mod my friend's Wii console, I had previous experience modifying a Wii, but the last time I did this was the time Bannerbomb was brand new so.......

I softmodded the unit, it's on 4.0U, so after Bannerbomb etc, emulators are fine and dandy..... But then I get to the backup loading....

According to the data I read, it seems current "Loaders" now support ISO loading, but I'm totally confused on how to do it, nor even choose one.

What I kinda want is basically copy an ISO file to a flash drive or the SD card that goes into the Wii, but then I how to get past the FAT32 file size limit so.......

.... Anyone can help me? >.<

OK, I'm kinda drunk yesterday so I apologize for the awkward wording....

this post should be a sticky i made a simple tutorial that teaches the best way to copy games to the wii
which automatically splits files...

I'm gonna try Wii Backup Manager. So what loader supports those splitted ISO files?

Thanks man, I will try those out,

My biggest problem is that my Wii game backups are all in ISO format, I prefer it on those times because of the ease of burning. I wasn't even using USB loading on that time. So being able to use ISO without conversion if possible would be best I think. :)

you can keep the iso on the pc, and the converted file on the usb\sd card
if you need to put it again on the usb\sd card you can always use wiibackup manager..

anyway, why would you want to burn a iso of a wii game, if you can't put it on the console? (at least without a expensive modchip)

if you really want a .iso, you can always convert the wbfs file back to iso..
i personally keep the .iso of the games on my computer in a folder next to other roms folders, and whenever i want i convert them again to wbfs...

Well, my sister's Wii was already been modified when she bought it a long time ago.

Also, even burned ISOs also works without a modchip as long as you use a loader that supports loading thru the DVD (Like backup loader) if I remember correctly. So I just made it so all of my Wii game backups in ISO format..... :P

if you really want to stay in iso format, then you have to use NTFS or exfat.
But mind you, they are not compatible with gamecube loading and not many homebrew apart from usb loading support them. FAT32 have the best compatibility.
.wbfs also save a lot of space like Wii Play - Motion is 500MB in wbfs format while a full iso is 4.37GB. Many simple/old school are less than 100MB even.

Wii produced after 2009 (or 2008 even?) will not read DVD no matter what unless you replace the DVD drive with an older model.
