ROM Hack [Question] How to Play GBA Games on N3DS With or Without Gateway?

I'm really eager to play pokemon crystal on my n3ds, is it possible with gateway? or a different method that doesn't include gateway?

use a cfw with ABG firm sig checks patched out, pasta/rxtools/cakesfw etc

haha so true, in that case all you need is the homebrew channel and a gbc emu. or usethe gbc vc rom browser injection method

sure, or simply install a vc injected game cia if possible with your current set up.
the browser injection will not work for n3ds's browser, and if you can run ninjhax you can run something like pasta to install a cia of the game

not that i have trust issues, but, i distinctly remember playing pokemon crystal on my gameboy color. you are wrong
you should be able to find a pokemon crystal injected vc game in cia format on the internet, i assume google would be able to help
when you have that .cia file, you can use something to install it to your system, it would only work whilst hacks are loaded, something like gw, or pasta, pbt, etc

As I recall you need to have a bought gba game for the virtual console in order to inject the ROM? How would I do that when my firmware is 9.0.0 and it requires an update in order to use the store?

gba = gameboy advance so if you use gba when talking about a gameboy (color) game, people will get confused! but no problem.
to inject a gameboy rom via the internet browser, yes you need an existing gameboy game bought, --- but importantly this can only be done on OLD3ds, you have new3ds, so you cannot do this method.

because you have a new3ds, unless you have access to cubic ninja, there is nothing you can do at the moment.
or, if you have a GW, and then you have the option of either using ocarina of time or cubic ninja to get your n3ds hacked.

I do have an old 3ds that's on 9.0.0 but the question is, how do I get a gba game on my system from the store without updating?
