For the people who have the Sky3DS card, is the card reliable?
In your opinion, is the flashcart good?
What is the average size of 3DS ROMs?
I have a 32GB micro SD, is that enough?

I don't own it, but the answers are easy:
1) Yes. The template file gets updated when necessary, and as far as hardware goes, the card is reliable. It doesn't even have to be updated to work on new firmwares all the way up to the latest update.
2) If your primary concern is just with playing 3DS games, it's simple and as good as things get. It's also the only good option if your system firmware is over 9.2.
3) Ha. Ha. You remember where you are right? The rules? The things that mention not requesting ROMs?

I have both a Gateway and a Sky3ds, Sky3ds is reliable but slow to move around from game to game. When it comes to Roms, well we are unable to tell you where to go, so you will have to look around. The average size of a 3DS Rom varies from game to game, but on average 1GB seems right, some games will be larger others smaller, best thing to do is Trim the Roms so they take up less space (Trimming the Roms will remove the extra data that is unneeded). And finally a 32GB card should be fine, that is what I use and with the Roms trimmed I am able to have about 20 Roms on the card.

1. For me, the flashcart works very well, plain and simple. You can just add .3DS files to the card using the DiskWriter utility and play them, swapping as necessary. I think it's a great solution that works for the just play mentality.

2. I've found that most ROMs are 2-4GB, while some are 1 GB (with a handful even smaller). I've never seen anything bigger than 4, but I believe Xenoblade is larger. Not sure, I own a regular 3DS.

3. I use 32 and haven't filled it up, but I only have 4 games. I find it's plenty because there are only a limited amount of games you can possible play and keep track of at a time, so when you're done you can just backup the save and delete the ROM. However, if you want to be safe, Amazon regularly has deals on 64 GB cards. I've seen them down to $20, but right now they're $25 which is a very reasonable price.

I recommend Sandisk class 10 16GB. Because switch from game to game is very frustrated. I think Sky3ds team should adjust this and put out on screen.

32 GB is actually a bit too big... The largest ROM is 4 GB (which can be trimmed), but those are very few. A lot of good games are 256-512 MB, most around 1 GB, some around 2 GB...

The problem is that the bigger the card is, the longer it takes to cycle through the games on the Sky3DS. I'd say that 8-16 GB should be enough. There's a trick to start from the 1st game (which is where Cubic Ninja is for me, since I'm on 9.0): you hold down the blue button while inserting the card, then reinsert the card.

I suggest keeping as few games on it as possible at one time. I had 4 and it was a really enjoyable experience. Now that I have 6 I'm beginning to grow fatigued with the game-switching. Make sure you get a microSD card that is fast and genuine. Get something smaller than 32GB. I use a 16GB Class 10 Sandisk, but I feel like I could use an 8GB just as easily. I might pick up a small (8GB) class 10 MicroCenter mSD just for my Sky.

use 32gb card is better, sky3ds has the function that you put the game you don't want to play right now to the sub list, it still remain in you m card but don't show up in the rom selection, you can switch it back to the main list in a second.

Average size... hard to say. But you can only have 31 games on each MicroSD, so a 32GB should be enough. I have well over 50 games on a 64 GB card in my GW, all trimmed except for card2 games, so the games I have take about 1 GB each on average when trimmed.

I have both. I use the GW for most things, but the Sky just for CN/OOT exploit. It is a good card and works well, but I feel the switching games is annoying and having to use diskwriter can get tiring.

Mind if I ask how do you trim roms?

That's exactly what I do, keep only the games I'm playing in the top section, and dump all those I'm done with or might play in the future below in bottom section. That way all my games and saves are always in one single large microsd.

How do you do it? Do you do it on diskwriter, or while using the 3DS?

DiskWriter 2.x apparently creates a reserve partition, in order to "semi-bypass" the 31-games-at-a-time limit.

Apparently you can store there the games that you don't play, so that you don't have to wait for them to be copied over USB, but I don't know... since DiskWriterV202b1 always gave me .NET framework errors, while v1.6 works just fine, so I stuck with v1.6.

You can't change the order of the games. To keep Cubic Ninja at the top (first game), copy it first, then any other games after.

Oh, well thats a nice feature to have. May I ask you something about rom trimming? I heard from The Real Jdbye above that diskwriter automatically trims them. Is that true?

And one more thing. I heard you have to cycle to save the game in Sky3DS.. Does this mean in-game saving does not work? Or is it only necessary when taking out the microSD for diskwriter?

You could in the new disk writer by shifting the games down to reserve then up again in the order you want, not a particularly efficient way of doing it, but it beats manually copying everything out and in again.
