WB Pulls Arkham Knight From PC Retailers

batman-arkham-knight-banner.png

Tonight, we kill the batman... is exactly what Warner Bros had in mind for Batman's recent PC release, as it has suddenly been pulled from platforms like... well everything. The game has faced some pretty harsh issues on PC platforms, including frame locks, glitches galore, and complete unplayability.

Warner's statement below:

Dear Batman: Arkham Knight PC owners,

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards. We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.

Thank you to those players who have already given valuable feedback. We are continuously monitoring all threads posted in the Official Batman: Arkham Knight Community and Steam forums, as well as any issues logged with our Customer Support (support.wbgames.com). If you purchased your copy of the game and are not satisfied with your experience, then we ask for your patience while these issues are resolved. If desired, you can request a refund at help.steampowered.com (Steam refund policies can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds) or the retail location where you purchased the game.

The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.

The game has been pulled from Steam and is currently unavailable for purchase.

The bigger question is: How did all of this crap get past their bug testing?
They probably outsourced their bug testing like they did their porting. My guess is that they gave it to... Bethesda.

This is why I pirate. Well, actually, it's not... but this makes me even more likely to do so. Well, actually, now that Steam gives 2 hour refunds, the old "I only pirate it to test it on my rig" excuse is no longer valid. Crap... *throws down ninja smoke bomb*

It's a really douche move that they outsourced the PC version as that's ultimately and always the best edition to go with, although for a console gamer like myself I prefer consoles so it doesn't matter much.

I'm gonna eventually pick this up eventually, more so specifically the GOTY Edition for PS4.. probably by Christmas when PS4 has a better library of games.

They outsourced it knowing nobody could easily get refunds on steam, the unfortunate event is that valve implemented a humane refund policy when the port was ready to be shipped.

Game had 27% rating on the store (not even renowned scam games get this low usually), and I suppose a ton of people rightfully refunded the game. Plus, the massive PR hit made them act like the good guys and pull it.

I like how companies try so hard to save irrelevant amounts of money with risky moves (seriously, a proper PC port costs nothing when you're already accustomed to doing PC ports AND the game runs on the unreal engine, what the fuck), and then end up fucking up and spending several times the amount they saved to repair their shitfest.

I don't believe anything said from them. If they take this very seriously, they wouldn't have released the game at all instead of releasing it anyway and hoping that people wouldn't make a fuss about it. But now you can get refunds from Steam, how unfortunate for them.

They knew the game was going to sell really well, yet they fucked it up anyway. Idiots.

WB is just doing damage control on the screw up from the company that they trusted to do the PC version. You have to understand, when a company outsources a port, they outsource every part of it. That means development for porting to the PC, bug testing the port, and applying any fixes to the port as necessary in patch updates or otherwise.

I imagine that whoever did the porting said "oh yeah, it's ready for release", and that had to be trusted because the main studio was still working on the console version of the game up until release day.

If you want to be upset with somebody, be upset with whoever handled the PC port. They're the lazy developers that half assed a port and then lied about how ready for market it was.

True, Iron Galaxy deserves to be blamed, but surely an insignificant amount of testing on WB's part would have shown that the port was a total bugfest.

To make up for it WB should offer the Season Pass free of charge for the users who bought this broken piece of shit release.

Which would then piss off all the people who already bought the Season Pass and those who waited/skipped getting the game because of the poor reviews. No matter what they do, they're going to anger some part of their playerbase (even more than they already are). They just need to hurry up, fix the PC version, and make it the most sparkly game ever. Oh, and remove Denuvo so I can play.

I mean. All I ask was for people to see if ONE, SINGLE website is working properly in edge. 1000 people see it but cant be bothered at all

@RedColoredStars, I did read the last sentence in your post by the way. Maybe try changing the privacy settings in your browser to standard if that works.

Thing is , the videos work fine in the Edge Dev and Canary builds. But whatever the fix they made was, has never been pushed to Beta or Stable builds. Its been that way for as far back as I tested. Which was Edge 84. They are on 125 now.

@RedColoredStars, Yeah, and I was in quite a mood at that time. I would consider choosing Firefox or Opera instead, been using Firefox for over 7 years now than Chrome.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Tried contacting Nintendo to see if they can reach out to MS about it. But Nintendo said the videos are working fine. Without enough people saying no, they don't work fine, it will never get fixed.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
I have Firefox and used it for many years. But Edge runs noticible faster on my pc at both opening and loading pages.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I don't think Nintendo will know anything about troubleshooting Edge. They mostly do technical support regarding their console family.

Tell them you downloaded their trailer without permission

    Good one, Ken.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Right. But they could create a ticket that gets forwarded to the proper team. I think Nintendo would care that their videos aren't working on a major browser
