Hacking [RELEASE] Pasta CFW without Cubic Ninja - MSET (4.x old3ds)

What are you talking about ? I didn't say you had to launch anything from your smartphone. Delete all the connections from your 3ds,start tethering with your phone, connect both your laptop and your 3ds to the mobile hotspot, start the cfw, use wireless Network watcher to get your console ip, then modify the run.bat and execute it (from your pc of course)

Oh! I thought you meant to run the .bat file from the folder with the required files from smartphone. I'm totally new to this 3DS hacking stuff. I'm sorry for the confusion. Thanks!

I have a ZTE Quartz smartphone. Here are the specs: http://www.zteusa.com/zte-quartz Doesn't appear to have mobile hotspot support. It does have Bluetooth but my laptop isn't bluetooth. This is a bunch of crap trying to get this to work.

I guess I'm out of options now in trying to get this done unless I do the method that master yoda posted. However, that isn't what I want to even attempt to do especially after the aggravation I've been through trying to get this tutorial to work.

If you already have a gateway, you don't have to do all of this to install a cia installer, just use your gateway to directly install FBI/BBM on your sysnand.

How do I do this without deleting my emunand? I have 4.2 sysnand and gateway emunand 9.8 both work fine but i want to be able to hot swap my launcher.dat file from my sd and boot Pasta cfw so i can play gba games...then swap back and enjoy all my gateway 3ds roms aswell....does anyone have any idea how i can accomplish this? been trying all day and i think i even got pasta to boot but i cant for the life of me figure out how to get FBI into my sysnand it refuses to boot even in pasta but boots fine in gateway emunand upon swapping the launcher.dat.

When i boot up my pasta launcher.dat it flashes white and returns me to the homescreen, my icons that were installed while on emunand would not play animations and gave me an error when i tried to boot them as if i was using plain old sysnand. No clue what im doing wrong.

Requirements

• SD Card (preferably blank, if not make sure to take a full backup)
• A PC with an SD card reader
• A 4.5 or lower 3DS with mset already installed using Gateway's Installer file.

Software Download Links:

• Dev Menu CIA (Look for either BigBlueBox CIA or GovanifY’s CFW. Google is your friend, the file name will be either BigBlueBox.cia or DevMenu_2x.cia)
• Palantine CFW
• PBT CFW
• Network Scanner
• Pasta CFW Launcher.dat

1. Format your SD card. It should be completely blank. Make sure to take a backup if you were using it for something else.
2. In the "SD Card" folder from Palantine's CFW, you will find files such as Launcher.dat. Copy all of these onto the SD Card.
3. Now, copy the boot.bin from PBT-CFW. There should already be a boot.bin from Palantine's CFW - delete this one and make sure you are running PBT CFW.
4. Put the SD into the 3DS. Start the system, and let it create software management information. Now power down the system, and put the SD back into your computer.
5. Now, in your SD card, there should be a Nintendo 3DS folder. Open it, and open the folder inside that. There should be another, so open that too. You should see a exdata folder.
6. Make a new folder (not inside the exdata folder, but in the same directory as it) called “dbs”. Go into the folder and make a blank text file, named “title.db” or “import.db”. Doesn’t matter which.
7. Put the SD back into the 3DS.
8. Now, navigate to Settings --> Other --> Profile. WHILE HOLDING THE L BUTTON, tap DS Profile. The screen should be a DARK blue on the top. As with regular CFW, the bottom screen should ideally flash white for a moment and then load the CFW. If it doesn't, hold power to reboot the system and repeat step 9. Make sure to hold L.
9. Now, once you’ve gotten into PBT-CFW, you’ll need your 3DS’ IP Address. You can use the tool you downloaded earlier (the network scanner) to find the devices from Nintendo. Note the IP. (usually looks like 192.168.1.1xx).
10. Copy the DevMenu CIA you downloaded earlier into the Palantine CFW folder with run.bat.
11. Edit the run.bat file in the Palantine CFW folder. Replace the DevMenu_2x.cia part with the name of your CIA, and the IPTOMODIFY with your IP.
12. Code:
    installcia IPTOMODIFY 1 DevMenu_2x.cia
13. Code:
    installcia 192.168.1.155 1 DevMenu_2x.cia
14. Now execute the run.bat by double clicking it. It should return a result code of 0. If it doesn't, repeat steps 5-14. If it fails to connect, make sure the IP is correct and the 3DS is connected to the internet.
15. You should now have DevMenu installed onto the 3DS.
16. Turn off and remove your SD card.
17. Now, in your SD card,replace Launcher.dat by the Pasta CFW Launcher.dat
18. Stick your SD card back to 3DS and navigate to Settings --> Other --> Profile. WHILE HOLDING THE L BUTTON, tap DS Profile(Dont always need to hold the L button,just on first time).
19. If everythings works you will boot on to Pasta CFW without Cubic Ninja!

Only works on old3ds with firmware 4.x

on how to install mset using the qrcode but its still not working, I get to step 8, hold L tap DS Profile and instead of getting a dark blue screen my screen light fades out and after a few seconds i get kicked out to the home screen with a pop up saying "An error has occurred, forcing the software to close. The system will now restart. (Unsaved data may be lost.)" I am on 4.5.0-10U using a SanDisk 32gig SDHD card. I got my 3DS off eBay and deleted all the data as soon as i got it.Not sure if it matters, but step 5 and 6 says there should be an exdata folder but i get a folder called extdata Thanks for the help in advanced.

You can boot in gateway mode on sysnand since 3.2.1,check the gateway news to know how.
Bu it's better to have 2 sdcards rather than switching between the 2 launchers every time.

you can try the app FoxFi (does not need root) or temp root (needs to be done every time you restart the phone) and try a tether app that requires root.

Yeah, you just need to find the Gateway compatible Launcher.dat (Pasta) . But the games you installed thru Palantine won't work with Pasta anyway. You will need to reinstall them again.

I keep getting a odd status return. Starts with a 9.

I tried go ogling it and nothing came up. Any advice?

Thanks, I injected it directly on my emunand (by decrypting it first and it worked). I tested on a 4.X old3ds, but there's no reason it wouldn't work on a 2DS.
Just add to do some change on the rsf because i have a EU console :
ProductCode : "CTR-N-HACP"
UniqueId : 0x00223
and rename the app 00000004.app.

okay, I have a very important question before I downgrade. Is it true that my cartridge saves that were made on 6.x+ will not work after I downgrade no matter what? Even if I use RXtools for a 9.8 emunand?

All my saves were made on normal firmware from launch until now, and were never made in emunand.

Hi all need some advice,I have found a tutorial to downgrade system setting to a earlier version to enable the use of the dsprofile exploit on the New 3ds xl, has any one done this to get pastacfw to load on a new 3ds xl via this mset option. Would prefer to get away from CN i can. One more question please, can we yet launch hombrew channel via dsprofile exploit or is CN required? I also do not own a gateway, only CN

Sorry, only gateway supports MSET on a New 3DS XL right now, but that doesn't mean PASTA won't support it eventually.

BBM will stay on your sysnand, but you can't boot into pasta without CN on 9.2, and if you have CN in the 1st place, then you don't even need to downgrade.
