How to export/import Gateway Card1 .sav to eShop/3ds/3dz with SaveDataFiler

I found a workaround how to export/import Card1 Savegames (no retail support)

First you know we had the problem of " CTR - BROKEN ", but there is a little trick to it.

!MT-Card USER can do this without Workaround because the save gets loaded on ROM mounting!

To fetch your Cartridge Savegames, you can use this method: NTR Savegame Manager Plugin

We need:

- Red Gateway Card
- The Exploit
- Launcher.dat (tested with 3.0.3 Ultra)
- SaveDataFiler
- The .3ds/.3dz/.cia Game you want to export/import
- A working Savegame (Dumped Savegames from Retail might not work)
- A PC/MAC (any Device capeable to rename Files)

!MAKE ALWAYS BACKUPS FROM YOUR SAVEGAMES!

A. EXPORT .3ds/.3dz to eShop:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Connect the SD Card to your PC
2. Copy your Savegame and save it as 000400000FF40A00.sav
3. Put SD Card back into your 3DS
4. Turn it on and execute Exploit
5. Mount your .3ds/.3dz Game
6. Start SaveDataFiler (CTR Card is no longer broken!) and highlight CTR Card
7. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame

SaveDataFiler stores in SDCARD:\filer\UserSaveData\20150131010203\0000053f
YEAR-MONTH-DAY-HOUR-MINUTE-SECONDS \ TitleID low

8. Switch to SD and highlight your TitleID
9. Press R+A and then A to import your Savegame
10. Press Home, select the cia game and press two times A to start

B. EXPORT eShop to .3ds/.3dz:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Start your 3DS and execute Exploit
2. Mount your Game
3. Start SaveDataFiler and highlight your TitleID low
4. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame
5. Switch over to SD and highlight TitleID low
6. Press L + A and then A to create 000400000FF40A00.sav (CTR Card is no longer broken!)
7. Turn your 3DS off and connect the SD CARD with your PC
8. Copy 000400000FF40A00.sav to your TitleID (0004000000053F00.sav)
9. Put your SD Card back into your 3DS
10. Turn your 3DS on and execute Exploit
11. Mount your Game and start it

Export Retail Card with CFW and SDF:

Note: As for CFW works only with FW4.5, 6.x encryption will fail.

1. You need CFW and installed SafeDataFiler on a spare SD Card
2. Start your CFW and insert your Cartridge
3. Start SafeDataFiler and highlight CTR Card
4. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame
5. Turn off your 3DS and move the 'filer' folder to your PC
6. Switch over to your Gateway (emuNAND) SD Card and add the 'filer' folder from PC
7. Insert your Gateway (emuNAND) SD Card into your 3DS
8. Start your 3DS, execute Exploit and start SaveDataFiler
9. Now you can follow A8 for eShop or B5 for .3ds/.3dz

(Be patient with CFW, sometimes it takes 10 tries to get it working)

Thx queno138 : original Post

Info:

"Nintendo 3DS\ID1\ID2\" = eShop , "000400000000XXXXXXX.sav" = Card 1

If your ID1\ID2 does not match after downgrade or formating 3DS,
your Save is LOST if there is no NAND Backup using that ID1\ID2!!!

If you have the NAND Backup matching ID1\ID2,
you can import it as emuNAND with emuNANDTool!

It is impossible to use NAND Backups or encrypted eShop saves
from another 3DS! You need to decrypt the saves first before you
can transfer them!

EXPORT / IMPORT from Original Cartridge is now possible
with Cubic Ninja + PASTA CFW + SaveData Filer!!!

It´s from a usa rom to a eur cia. But i think i do it right.

1.- Back up a MU4 eur rom save
2.- Back up the usa retail save
3.- Replace in the sd the "system" and "user1" file from the us game into the eur folder

But when i try to inject the save to my eur cia, the error happens.

I use this https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...save-from-one-region-to-another-on-gw.381849/ to do it.
Did you do the steps where you edit the files in the folders?
12. Turn off your console and open up your SD Card.
13. Inside the folder "filer" you will find the subfolder UserSaveData. Inside will be two folders with the same names as the decrypted saves. Backup "filer" onto your PC.
14. This following may be different depending on the game used. Again, I will be referencing MH4U. Open ROM1's subfolder. You will know it's ROM1's subfolder because inside it will have a folder and files with ROM1's titleid. For MH4U, it has the files 00001261.dat, 00001261_.dat, and export.log, with the folder 00001261. Inside the titleid folder are the files system and user1. Again, this may be different depending on the game.
15. Copy the files from ROM1's titleid folder and replace the files from ROM2's titleid folder.
16. Turn on your console, and load up the Gateway Browser exploit.
You need to edit the main files so it will support the EUR cia.

I'm under RxTools emunand 9.8, is there a way to import my retail cart Mario Kart 7 to the legit CIA Mario kart ?

I exported the cart save, then imported it, even tried deleting the secure cia value but no success... anyone know if this is possible ?

Why not just use Nintendo's official Save Data Transfer Tool? XD

hi

you tested? (I may try .3dz to cart later on, but I'm tired and want to sleep now)

...
Edit 25/03/2015

Resolved!

How to:

1 - retail cartridge "Game Backup" (http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=37340&d=1423510302)

2 - if need, join two files into one (in cmd "copy /b romname.3d0 + romname.3d1 romname.3dz" (https://gbatemp.net/threads/3d0-and-3d1.381366/)

3 - rename file .3ds to .3dz and hold it in pc

4 - in 3DS do this with game and save who are running
..... A. EXPORT .3ds/.3dz save to decrypted save: (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...with-savedatafiler.380246/page-5#post-5334985)

..... Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

..... 1. Connect the SD Card to your PC
..... 2. Copy your Savegame and save it as 000400000FF40A00.sav
..... 3. Put SD Card back into your 3DS
..... 4. Turn it on and execute Exploit
..... 5. Mount your .3ds/.3dz Game (Warning: The rom mounted must be the exact rom that has
..... the same header as the save you want to decrypt)
..... 6. Start SaveDataFiler (CTR Card is no longer broken!) and highlight CTR Card
..... 7. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame (It will now be in the SD tab, decrypted).

5 - Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

..... 1. Put Rom (that you left on pc) you want to export the save to in your microSD
..... (If transferring a save from a header-less .3ds to a .3dz, this is the time you replace said .3ds
..... with said .3dz)
..... 2. Run exploit
..... 3. Mount the game
..... 4. Start SaveDataFiler
..... 5. Switch over to SD and highlight TitleID low
..... 6. Press L + A and then A to create 000400000FF40A00.sav (CTR Card is no longer broken!)
..... 7. Turn your 3DS off and connect the SD CARD with your PC
..... 8. Rename 000400000FF40A00.sav to your TitleID (0004000000053F00.sav)
..... 9. Put your SD Card back into your 3DS
..... 10. Turn your 3DS on and execute Exploit
..... 11. Mount your Game and start it

6 - Restore savegame to retail cartridge

.....Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

..... 1. in SD 3ds, rename your Save to AREP.sav
..... 2. Open the gateway menu with “L” , and press “Restore Savegame”.

it's over

The Save restored to Retail Cartridge only work in Gateway Classic Mode.

Can someone flush this out for me? I tried doing the steps as i understood them but whenever i start the game it says that i have to format the save.

My problem is that i want to transfer my MH4U save file from the 3dz rom to my retail cartridge, both are EU.

Do i have to backup my retail cart? or can i just export the save out and try restoring it with gateway? Help would be appreciated.

Edit:After trying to follow the steps, when i restore the savefile into the cart, i get the following message every time "The save data cannot be used and will be formatted" Anyway to fix this?

I am having trouble understanding the guide and telling what I have in mind is possible.

Using savedatafiler, can I use a .sav for SMT IV I downloaded online with my SMT IV that I play from a retail game cartridge? I would be booting the SMT IV cartridge from an rxtools emunand.

EDIT: I spoke with some people on the gbatemp IRC, my current understanding is for my case I'd need to run a restore game save from the Gateway Menu, restoring from a .sav with the appropriate headers.

Hi guys, I'm trying to export my .3ds Ocarina of Time save to eShop.
These are the steps I have taken:

1. Renamed the OoT save (0004000000033500.sav) to 000400000FF40A00.sav
2. Started up 3DS and executed MSET exploit
3. Select and mounted OoT game via GW mode
4. Opened SDF

The CRT is still broken for some reason. Did I do anything wrong?

I've used SDF many times, but never got that problem so i don't know. You can just use the official Save Data Transfer Tool in eShop.

Thanks. I tried copying the save and renaming it in the same folder instead of just directly renaming it and it all of a sudden worked :)

Hello, I'm trying to import my Bravely Default(cia) save to a Bravely Default Modded ( rom ) but I'm failing at it on N3DS emunand.

The steps I took :

1 ) Find the title ID for Bravely Default : FC600
2 ) Export the save data to sd card using SaveDataFile -> Open SaveDataFiler -> User -> 00FC6 -> (Y) -> (A)
3 ) Mount the game
4 ) Switch to SD Tab find my save which is easy because there is only one then Import the save data to ctr card

If I read the tutorial correctly it should create a .sav file on my sd card but it doesn't do so. What i might be doing wrong? Thanks!

Has anyone successfully done this? I have tried continuously to inject a save from a .3dz rom to a monster hunter 4 ultimate retail cartridge, both have the same header and are of the same region ( it is a dump from the cartridge).
1. I have tried extracting the file out of the rom with SDF on gateway's emuNAND 9.8.0-25U and then injecting it into the cartridge using Pasta CFW on sysNAND 4.2.0-9U.
2.Renaming the save to BFGE.SAV and restoring it into the cartridge using Gateway's menu.
No matter which way I try the cartridge always says that the file is unsupported and the save will be formatted.
