I'm freshly signed up and have been off the 3DS scene ever since I sold mine last October, I came here because I knew I'd be in good hands! So here's the thing, I'm looking to get a NEW3DS sometime next month, and I need to know what the cheapest and most compatible (w/ 9.8.0-25 if possible i think thats the latest firmware) flashcard is. A card reader or extra storage doesnt need to be considered. If someone could fill me in that would be great!

Gateway site says it supports 9.8 Emunand Firmware. Even then, it's only for the Old 3ds, N3ds highest Emunand support is 9.5.

System Firmware 9.2 or lower Gateway hands down imo.
Above 9.2 Sky3ds

Okay good to know... So with that said, what would be the cheapest reseller?

Each site has official resellers for each country, stick to those as you don't want to buy fakes or old version cards in new version card shells.

Hey one more question - If i wanted to play both 3ds and ds games would QQ3DS be the better choice? I hear its a clone but do you recommend it instead of paying for a Sky3ds and another $40 flashcard?

I'd stick to the sky3ds, you know what you are getting.

if you play ds games ,You can choose Ace3ds plus ( around $10) and R4i Gold 3ds or R4i sdhc 3DS RTS is also fine.
if you play 3ds games V4.1-V9.2 choose Gateway 3ds is better , above V9.2 ,highly recommder Sky3ds flashcart

If QQ3DS is a clone why does everyone one this site down it? Yeah it's unreliable and sketchy, but if you get what you paid for (which comes with an adapter AND a DS cart) what's the problem? Especially for someone like me who can't afford to waste one dollar.

QQ3ds ~ $85 (Rip off of another product) Who knows when they'll stop working on their product.

Sky3ds ~$75 *Might find it cheaper if you hunt/sift through the reseller list* (The thing QQ rips off :P )
Ace3ds ~$10 *May be able to find it cheaper*

edit: My 2c.
edit2: Ace3ds comes with a USB adapter btw.

Sky 3ds is $75.90 (cheapest I could find, trust my I sat down for an hour and a half) + Ace3ds $9.99 = $85.89 total which is still missing the adapter in order to use Diskwriter

QQ3ds is $84.99 total that comes with the whole deal. I'm not scared of cut support or a clone (that's being sold for a reasonable price) I'm wanting to spend the least amount of money possible to get all of my old games (games that are all supported by qq3ds I checked that too) back. So really, what should I be worrying about...?

You're dismissing everything you should be worried about for .90c xD

Ace3ds comes with a micro usb adapter that you can use for diskwriter too.

Bought a Ace3ds in the past, worked perfectly fine.
Friend has a Sky3ds, works perfectly fine.

What you have to worry about imo, is if you go with the clone there's a possibility they could just stop updating while the Sky3ds continues to update (considering sky3ds is the #1 choice for users over 9.2 atm). So right there, you have the possibility of having a temporary cart vs likely to be long lasting cart all over .90c *bring up the .90c because you seem dead set on the QQ3ds & you said for those who can't waste a dollar*

As for a reasonable price, imo that's a joke for QQ a clone to be the same price as what you'd pay for what's being cloned + another nds cart.

It's up to you though, just trying to help you out based on what I think is the right choice. :P

With these cards (sky3ds, qq 3ds etc) they work with a template file that the card creator has to update everytime a new game is released for the 3ds. If they stop adding the roms to the template file you cannot play the roms you add to the micro SD Card. Thats why you are better gong with the original sky3ds as it was their product originally.

If you get a N3ds 9.2 or lower I recommend Gateway, emuNAND for installing .CIA files safely, loads of roms to store on the Gateway mSD Card, Has a low chance of being patched out, also cheaper by like $40 or something :D

Otherwise get Sky3ds
