I'm interested in using Swiss on my Gamecube, primarily for resolution forcing to 240p and 480p for the games that don't support it natively.

I had previously planned on going the SD Media Launcher route, but the stupid shipping costs as well as the fact that they are out of stock has forced me to look elsewhere. Finding accurate information on this has been a bit of a problem and I'm not really sure where to go.
I see the XenoGC suggested, but I'm not entirely sure what I would need on top of that; Just an SD Gecko clone and the swiss files? Or would some sort of boot disc still be required?

Is the 240p resolution forcing possible to do on the Wii? I know it's heavily based on the GC's hardware and is able to run Swiss in some form, but finding specifics is, again, pretty difficult.

I've actually had my Wii softmodded for several years now and have both Dios Mios and Nintendon't working on it. My interest in the Gamecube is for a few different reasons:
1 - I like the way the system looks better than the Wii; Nostalgia value or what ever, it's just my preferred way to play GC games.
2 - Better Video Output
3 - GB Player Usage
and 4 - I've only seen 240p resolution forcing mentioned with Swiss in relation to the Gamecube and is the main reason for looking into even modding the system.

Forcing 480p works fine on the Wii, but none of the software/loaders/etc I've seen available for it have any apparent options for forcing a low resolution progressive signal.

So I'd still need either an Action Replay disc or some blank mini-DVDs? Can you even get those at a decent price at this point?
I would assume they are cheaper than they used to be. You only need one anyways, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Edit: 10 of them are about $5 on Amazon.

Oh, neat. I'm going to assume you mean the Philips branded ones.
I see a box of 20 TDK 4x on ebay for even less. Do you suppose those would work?

So, just to confirm, XenoGC, SDGecko/clone, and some sort of boot disc and I should be set, yes?

i use the max media launcher to boot swiss and ar v 1.14 or 1.06 dols.
You could use Phantasy Star online ep1&2 (not Plus) to send .dols from a pc to the gamecube using the baud band adapter over the network.
pso and bbas are expensive tho. I used to stream games over the network that way.

GCOS v 1.5 can boot mini dvd-rs on unmodded gamecubes. it depends on how strong the laser is in the drive. Its hit or miss. 2 of my 4 gamecubes read burns when launched with GCOS v 1.5

All these methods work with out mod chips. GCOS i believe can set 480p modes.

Yup. XenoGC isn't a drive replacement chip, no internal SD slot or anything like that.
