Hacking Can't Install CIOS 36 or get Trucha Bug Restorer to Work

Hey guys, as you might guess I'm softmodding my Wii U and it seems I've hit a wall. I was following this tutorial:

I got to the point where he runs CIOS 36 Installer, and I keep getting a -1017 error. After much Googling I learned about the Trucha Bug Restorer and tried that. Ironically, I am now finding I am also getting a 1017 error on that as well.

I've been Googling for basically hours and I can not seem to find a solution. I was hoping you guys might be able to help.

Let me know if you need any additional info. I did check and my Wii U version is 4.3.2 U.

1. you don't need CIOS 36(236?) installer. it is optional

2. Don't follow random guides and try things you don't understand. Don't follow guides that do not specify that they are for vWii only. Is the Trucha Bug Restorer specify that it is for vWii? (I have never heard of anything like that, it is for Wii only.) If not, it wii brick your WiiU. You are lucky that it failed.

3. Read the Stickies here especially learn what NOT TO DO. It is really hard if even possible to recover from a vWii brick.

Thanks for the warning and information. In my idiocy, I read the stickies, but it just didn't occur to me that I was looking at tutorials for the wrong system. Thankfully no brick yet. If you don't need the CIOS236 Installer, what is its purpose? What Homebrew is essential in order to run backups?

I used the same guide and It won't install the HBC forwarder ?? I tried redoing the steps to install cios 56,57 and 58 on 249,250,and 251 and it still won't install the HBC .... Did I do something wrong ?? I look thru the guides here ... Would I be able to start over somehow ??

Don't use Blue Dump, use YABDM. There are instructions on that page.

By Blue Dump I meant YABDM. How do you install it? Does it go under the app folder of your SD card? I can't seem to get it to show on the Homebrew Channel.

Edit: Nevermind, apparently the version I downloaded is different and doesn't work. The version you linked looks like it should work fine.

I did, the version I had was before I had your directions. I followed the link on the Do's and Do Not's thread for YABDM, but it links to a cluster of incredibly confusing files with no clear indication of what you should download.
