Hi,

Does anybody know what firmware is being shipped with the 3DS XL (not the new 3ds) in the U.K at the moment. Just want to make sure it's below 9.2. Thanks

I doubt nintendo is still making them, honestly, with the new3ds out.
My usa new old XL was 8.1 about 3 weeks ago, and the uk tends to have older firmwares than the usa, so yeah...

My XL I got in December was only on 6.1, I don't believe any O3DS units are made on <9.2 at the moment, though you have my condolences if you prove me wrong, haha!

My imported PAL N3DS came with 9.0, and I ordered it on the 29th of May. Although I made the decision to upgrade to 9.8 since it'll be a very long time before I'll want to use Homebrew, specifically RetroArch once it has PSOne support. I can almost guarantee an exploit for even past 9.8 will be out by the time that's even a thing. If you have Cubic Ninja for your region and wish to use something like CFW and Ninjhax, DO NOT UPDATE! You're not forced to update at first boot unless you wish to immediately perform a System Transfer.

I ordered mine on Amazon UK. If you have an American Amazon account, you may use your credentials there as well. Although it's very pricey knowing their markup. I suggest trying Amazon France. You can set the console to English. UK had it on sale for 106 pounds when I got it.

EDIT: I realized you're English by your flag. lol Amazon Prime works, obviously.

Uhm, was it new or used? If it was used, then it's probably been updated by the previous owner.

Your only option is to get a sky3ds flashcard unless gateway figure out a way to go past 9.2.

Yeah I have both flash cards on order. I'm actually getting a console with 9.0 on it, got the retail to check the serial for me

I much prefer Gateway for the obvious reasons. My other O3DS was stolen So i've had to purchase another console & I went with Gateway again. My buddy has a sky3ds & not being able to run homebrew for DLC cia's, themes etc is a big let down (Not to mention region lock too)
