So, I have decided to purchase a New 3DS XL after some research. To make sure I didn't make any mistake, I have some questions.

1) 9.2.0-20J can be cracked using GW?

2) To crack it with GW, I will need Zelda OoT3D or Cubic Ninja. From my understanding, the only difference between them is Cubic Ninja is easier (only scan QR codes) and Zelda OoT3D is a little bit more complex (need an old 3DS that has GW). Is this right? I prefer Zelda OoT3D because it is cheaper and I like Zelda.

3) I am going to purchase:
- Nintendo New 3DS LL (Firmware Version: 9.2.0-20J)
- Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D Japanese Version
- Gateway Card
- Some micro sd cards

Things I buy will give me a cracked New 3DS XL that can play any ROMs (with some magic from gateway-3ds.com, of course), including translated ROMs. Is this right?

That's all correct.
Buuut Cubic Ninja is better to get, as you can run other stuff with it too (NINJHAX, PastaCFW, NTR-CFW, Decrypt9 and things like that)

Thanks for your reply, but the Cubic Ninja Japanese version is so much more expensive on eBay or anywhere else I can find :C

ps. I am getting a Japanese version N3DS XL because it is cheaper too.

Ahh, I see.
You'll have to deal with all the 3DS menus being in Japanese, just FYI. I'd pay a little more to get menus in English but that's just me.

I am like one step away from purchasing it. What about the GW menu? Is it in English?
Yes.
Some games might show up in Japanese as well (even if they aren't JPN region) because they use the system language. Only games that have Japanese language included in all regions and which don't let you set the language manually though.

No software currently that can change the system language?

Not really, and I'm not sure if other languages are even in the system files, since each region has its own firmware.
There's only region changing, but that breaks eShop, and you need a file from a donor NAND of the region you want.

There's only region changing - Do you mean RegionFOUR?
Break eShop - Do you mean I can't access to eShop in NA if I change my region to NA? Can I access JP eShop?
Donor NAND - What does this mean? And what can I achieve if I have one?

No, I mean actually replacing the firmware with an US or EUR one. It should only be done on emuNAND unless you have a hardware nand mod for unbricking because it can easily go wrong.
The donor file is needed as part of the region change process. It has to be taken from another 3DS because it contains data unique to each 3DS and you ideally want to use a private one that is not used by anyone else (even on the 3DS it came from) otherwise bans can potentially happen. There are public ones around though. Some people seem to have eShop working after a region change, not sure what they do differently.

Replacing the firmware with an US/EUR one? We can do that with emuNAND?
If I don't change the region, can I use the JP eShop?

Yes you can :)
But at the moment, you'll need Cubic Ninja to do so, since the latest firmware isn't supported on emuNAND on n3DS yet. With CN you can use either NTR-CFW or PastaCFW with YGW eShop Spoofer to access eShop without updating. No word on when emuNAND will support the latest version, since the latest firmware uses new encryption on the n3DS and they haven't been able to get the encryption key.

OoT3D can't do that?
Can I play ROMs normally without accessing the eShop?

No, but there's no reason those things can't be done with OoT3D, it's just that everything out is made for NINJHAX and it doesn't seem like smea has any plans of porting NINJHAX to OoT3D. But like I said, CN lets you do way more things than OoT3D.

The only thing you normally need to access the eShop for is game updates, but you can find CIA versions of those updates online, which you'll need anyway if you play out-of-region games online since the updates for them won't be in the Japanese eShop. Game updates are needed to be able to play the games online, they still work fine offline (in most cases) without the updates.

I have already decided to give the JP version New 3DS LL a shot, since I can understand some elementary Japanese. The only thing I worried now is which game I should choose.

I looked at the NINJHAX that you mentioned. I noticed it requires Cubic Ninja. The only thing I need from NINJHAX so far is regionFOUR, which unlocks the region lock on my new 3DS LL. So I have some extra questions (I am sorry, newbie here, everything seems so confused T^T)
1) If I use OoT3D to crack my New 3DS LL, I won't be able to play ROMs outside JP region (since I can't install regionFOUR)?
2) If Cubic Ninja is my only choice, which is so expensive that I can actually get a Sky3DS with the same price. Can I buy a Sky3DS card, download a Cubic Ninja JP ROM and use it to crack my New 3DS LL?

Sorry again for asking so many questions. I tried to google it on my own, but I can't find the answer T^T.

**EDIT**
In http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Gateway_3DS, one of the feature of GW is region free ROMs. Isn't that mean I don't need regionFOUR?

My needs on my New 3DS LL:
1) Play ROMs (original and fans translated) from any region
2) Play those games online without being banned

Will OoT3D fulfill all my needs?

GW itself is region free so you'll be able to do all that with just GW and a way to run it (OoT3D)
Sky3DS can be used to load the CN or OoT exploit too.

Hi again, my N3DS LL arrives today and I have some questions again.

1) Do I need to update my emuNAND? My sysNAND is 9.2.0-20. Are there any games that require above 9.2? If I do not need to update my emuNAND, you can skip question 2 and 3.

2) What is the highest emuNAND N3DS can update to? I check all the gateway-3ds.com update logs, and I only see they mention FW9.5 or higher is not be supported on N3DS. So, 9.4.0-21 is the highest emuNAND I can go?

3) Since I can't update my emuNAND officially (it will update me to 9.8.0-25, which is not supported), how can I update to 9.4.0-21? I found a software called 3DNUS that can download .cia files for specific FW. Can I use this?
