Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories Coming Soon

harvest-moon-seeds-of-memories.jpg

Team Natsume is in the process of readying its latest title - Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. The E3 ready title will be released for the Wii U, Steam, iOS, and Android this winter 2015. Press statement from Natsume below:

Go back to the roots of Harvest Moon in the latest installment of the series! Inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will bring players a sense of nostalgia, along with exciting gameplay twists.

Tasked with the job of revitalizing a farm, players will need to befriend the villagers in town to unlock the titular "Seeds of Memories"! Seeds can be unlocked in many ways, such as giving a villager their favorite item, catching a giant fish, or by raising their first cow. Players will need to be up to the challenge of collecting all of the Seeds of Memories!

Old favorites return in the animal department with cows, sheep, and chickens, along with a horse to ride, and a dog to keep as a pet! Farmers will also have a new pet to take care of, but it isn't what they'd expect... It's a bobcat! The bobcat starts out wild, but as players befriend the animal, can they convince the bobcat to become their loyal friend?

Featuring cooking, fishing, foraging, and mining, players will need to upgrade their tools to find the highest-quality items. Players will also be able to participate in contests and festivals like the Cooking Contest and Starry Night Festival! Woo one of the ten marriage candidates – 5 bachelors and 5 bachelorettes – and find that special someone to make their farming life complete!

I forget: is Team Natsume the one that turned out the super shit bare bones Harvest Moon game? Or are they the ones that still understand how a Harvest Moon game is supposed to be? I know there was some division or another, but I haven't cared enough to keep it all straight.

On a related note, I feel like Harvest Moon is the very definition of playing the same game over and over again. How do these things warrant making multiple versions on every Nintendo handheld?

It's like Pokemon games. Anyway I can find out the answer to your question as I'm going to be seeing them at E3... :)

It's kind of weird seeing this off the handheld. Haven't even gotten into these games yet.
Hmm.. Just check, it has a wii game too. I wonder how I miss/forgot about that.

I'm so looking forward to seeing this at E3. I know it's not made by the original team, but I'm very interested in seeing what it has to offer.
"Inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games..." Sounds heavenly. ^_^

I love myself some harvest moon. You wouldn't think a game like this would be so addicting.

This will be interesting. I still find the first game (for SNES) to be the most fun, and is a game I go back to time and time again. I really don't like the time limit in that game, but perhaps that's what makes the game good as well?
You can screw around and there's a billion things to do in the later games, and there's no pressure. No fail state. Everything will be alright, and it quickly becomes boring,

The first game didn't have a lot of options, but you had to do the most of what you had in a limited time. Sure you don't fail, but time might run out and you didn't get the girl (or a baby or two), or didn't upgrade the house, or... or...
I would like to try the first game without a time limit, and see if it still is as much fun.

Anyway - if this new game is inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games, and they can find that magic feeling from the SNES game, I'll be in heaven!

I'm confused, this one isn't related to bokujou monogatary then? but based on it's old gold times? XD
Actually i think it is connected to the old Bokujou monogatary. iirc the first harvest moon for SNES was made from the founder of Natsume and the same developer is making Seeds of Memories now. Seeds of Memories isn't bokujou monogatary but its a new series called Harvest Moon here in west and the real Harvest Moon is called Story of Seasons now.....

Ah yes, that was what I was thinking of. Natsume is not Natsume anymore, at least not as far as Harvest Moon is concerned. I mean, let's not forget that this team is the one that brought us The Lost Valley, probably the most oversimplified "Harvest Moon" game that could ever exist that hardly even resembles the series it takes the name from. I don't have much hope for Seeds of Memories coming from this team, but maybe they'll surprise us and not turn out a total turd this time.

To be fair, the only Story of Seasons game so far isn't perfect either. It delivers on content, but not so much in terms of framerate. Somebody has got to do some right by the Harvest Moon series before it goes down as a flaming wreck. Even if I don't much like the games, I know plenty of people do, and it would be a shame if it died because competence was split when Natsume fell apart.

Probably Harvest Moon too. Fun Fact, Harvest Moon is a day where the night has a full moon that glows pretty bright making it possible for farmers to work longer, ofc they used that as their advantage. That's how the game got the name here.

Harvest Moon died for me after the first DS game, the latter games were lackluster and tried to do more but made it worse. The 3DS games are just a joke with customization and poor performance. There's no reason to play Harvest Moon when you have Rune Factory now. It does the same old Harvest Moon things with fighting monsters and all but still, i do want to try Seeds of Memories just because they said the game is going to its roots so i guess its like a reboot of the series.

Yeah, after "The Lost Valley" I have lost all of trust for Natsume already.
But on the bright side, this will be the first Harvest Moon on smartphone so it's something.

Though I wasn't a fan of Lost Valley, it wasn't exactly terrible from what I've played of it. Sure removing the town was indeed one of the biggest turn offs about the game for me, but the game was still decent from what I remembered.

With this entry though, it looks like they're trying to make it more like the Bokujou series. The whole collecting the seeds thing reminds me of the Sunstones in Sunshine Islands, or unlocking the sprites in HMDS. Whether it's a Bokujou game or not is irrelevant in my book. As long as it's something new and can keep me just as entertained, I will gladly take it in.
