It looks okay on my end, unless you've fixed it in the past 10 minutes or so and I just didn't notice it being off all day.

An example of how it looks on my end:

FF on Windows, if it matters.

some people have the issue, some people don't.
- Myself: Latest Chrome, Windows 8.1 x64 = I have the issue
- tj_cool: Latest Chrome, Linux = no issue
- Tom Bombadillo: Latest Chrome, Windows = has the issue

I've not noticed a problem with it on Windows 7 x64, with Chrome. Can one of you quote me to see if I can reproduce it?

I could use a notification too. I want to verify it working in the latest FF, and then I want to check Chrome and even silly old IE. I figure if it shows up in my Chrome as well, it's likely a Windows Chrome centralized issue.

If Tom is on Windows 8/8.1 as well, perhaps that narrows it down to a Win 8/8.1 issue, since VinsCool is also on Windows 7 and doesn't experience it..

Someone give me a like or something to see what happens on my end.

done!

the faulty script is probably this one: http://gbatemp.net/js/liveupdate/min/tinycon.js?_v=8cc35052
I'm wondering if it may have something to do with the font...

So here's what we have so far:
- Costello: Latest Chrome, Windows 8.1 x64 = has the issue
- tj_cool: Latest Chrome, Linux = no issue
- Tom Bombadildo: Latest Chrome, Windows = has the issue <- Which version of Windows, exactly? This might be critical
- Crystal: Chrome/Firefox, Chakra (Linux), 1366x768 = no issue
- VinsCool: Chrome, Windows 7 x64 = no issue
- daxtsu: Chrome, Windows 7 x64, 1680x1050 = no issue
- Nathan Drake: Firefox/Chrome/Internet Explorer, Windows 8.1, 1366x768 = no issue (Internet Explorer has a couple glitches)
- Duo8: Firefox 38, Ubuntu GNOME (Linux), 1920x1080 = no issue

OKAY. SO. I checked my browsers.

I'm running the latest stable Firefox build on Windows 8.1, as well when tested in Chrome it was on what is presumably the latest stable build. Both of them showed the favicon notification just fine. IE, the special child of the group, just shows the regular favicon on http and nothing but the "e" on https. I didn't notice a difference between http and https as far as the favicon goes on either Chrome or Firefox.

If it matters at all, the resolution of my laptop display is only 1366x768. Whether or not that could be having an impact, I'm unsure. As it stands, the one common link of it simply being browser based seems to be falling apart since it isn't happening in my Chrome on Windows.

It might be a good idea to collect screen resolutions as well then, if it has any chance of an impact. 1680x1050, btw.

I am updating my post as new ideas are being added. I also added some details about my system. I need someone to quote or like my post to test on Firefox as well.
Edit: Firefox added, no issue. All of my software is the latest as well
Edit @Tom Bombadildo Quick question about the Windows you are using in hopes to figuring this little bug out

right, I forgot to mention that my screen settings are 125%

I didn't have the bug before the update, with these settings...

I'll try on 100%, but that requires logging off/in again and I can't do that right now :P

Thought I'd bump this up because I suddenly started having this issue today:

SlOumzq.png

Latest version of Chrome, Windows 8.1 x64, 1680 x 1050 and 1366 x 768 resolutions both do this (Dual monitor setup).

My display is also on 100% sizing, @Costello, so I don't think that's the issue.
