[Debunked] Silent Hills May Now Be An Xbox One Exclusive

silent-hills-logo.jpg
The Drama just never stops coming does it people? From complete and utter takedown on the playstation, to the cancellation of the entire game, and now... as rumor has it... Silent Hills may be in talks to being bought from Konami, by microsoft, COMPLETELY taking the game from Playstation and making it an Xbox One exclusive.
[prebreak][/prebreak]
All I can say is...
wat.
According to Rooster Teeth's source, Silent Hills is 80% complete, and Microsoft is trying to purchase the property for "billions" of dollars by E3 this year – where it will officially reveal the game as an Xbox One exclusive. It could reportedly be released as soon as March 2016.
Konami pulled the PT demo for Silent Hills from the PlayStation Store "as a show of good faith to Microsoft," Rooster Teeth said.

In December 2014, Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, who was supposed to play a major role in the game, said the "heavy" motion capture for Silent Hillshadn't been shot yet.

The fact that the source is... Rooster Teeth of all places is an odd one. Take this with a frain of salt, but keep your eye on this topic, and E3 in the coming weeks. Silent Hills may still be alive and kicking after all...

I'll believe it when I see it, I find it hard to fathom that Kojima had time to get Silent Hills 80% complete while working full time on MGSV, and if Reedus says he didn't even do any mocap yet (as of 5 months ago) I lean towards it's BS. If MS comes out with this in a few weeks at E3, I'll gladly eat my words, and give them kudos for rescuing this game from oblivion.

I was reading about this earlier, and I dunno. I thought it was understood that the teaser demo was pulled because the game was cancelled, and they simply didn't want it up anymore. When you entirely cancel a game, you don't just leave a demo up as if it is actually on the horizon. And if Microsoft had been trying to purchase the game since that point, I'm reasonably confident they would have come to a deal by now and that it wouldn't be a desperate pursuit prior to E3. In the long run, the reasoning is a little off, and this is something to be taken with an entire salt factory.

If it does happen, well, at least the game didn't totally die. If it doesn't happen though, that's that. Considering I'm pretty sure it died specifically because key people left the project and it just kind of collapsed, I don't know how they would really get it effectively completed in less than a year either.

I just want to play this game! I honestly don't care what system it is on, just please finish it and keep it great! All of this drama may be good advertisement, but it's not going to be good on the dev team.

The "billions" of dollars mentioned makes it pretty sketchy, unless microsoft has no plans to ever come close to breaking even from the purchase. Not like the xbone is struggling to sell units and needs that "killer app" before it dies off. It's doing quite fine.

Ugh ...This rumors... ..it's kinda good that new Silent Hill games will be made, but Microsoft being behind it? ...I'm not seeing much of a bright future for the series yet...

Yeah, I agree with the "billions" of dollars seems sketchy. Even buying the whole franchise and owning it seems too much for a "billion" dollar. Anyway, we'll see and hopefully something comes up regarding Silent Hills this coming E3.

Love Silent Hill Series, and I am pretty interested in this one. But I am not sure that Microsoft being the "head" of the project is a good idea. Nothing against the Xbox or even Microsoft, but this just seems like a bad idea...to the point where all I can compare it to is Microsoft's ownership of Rare. No matter what, if this rumor is true, I would be happy to see Silent Hills alive again, but I will stay reserved as to the quality of it with Microsoft on board.

I'll take Del Toro's word over some random insiders', to be perfectly honest. I could easily suspend my disbelief and assume that Microsoft doesn't intend to make money on this and just wants a killer app to promote their platform and try to catch up, but the realist in me tells me that the project is probably cancelled since one of the two main directors is no longer involved and the other outright said that it's canned.

I'm sure the game is already complete, MS isn't going to dump more money into it but just release it for there system. What comes afterwards will be a test to see if they can make a better sequel.

This is so wrong, it's almost funny. Were the project already complete, do you think it would have been cancelled? Various parties admitted that the game wasn't complete prior to cancellation, and this rumor is the first thing that has even given any kind of percentage to how complete the game may have been. Even then, I'm thinking 80% is mighty generous as that would be a lot of game and a lot of money tossed down the crapper. My guess would be that the game was no more than 25% or 30% done prior to the cancellation, and I don't know if any studio would want to pick up the pieces of that not even half done mess just to get a console exclusive that would cost millions more to develop fully on top of the costs of buying the rights to all of the game assets.

The whole thing sounds made up, norman is also busy right now filming the next season of twd, so there is no way it would be ready by next year is no motion capturing (and voice over's?) have been done

Right, and during the beginning of the year the n3ds had no release dates for the US but they were stocked piled and ready to ship at a moments notice....the fact that they came with firmware 9.0 on release date and the latest, at that time during release was 9.4 or 9.3 says alot.

Burning a dvd is not hard to do for a manufacturing giant such as Microsoft. If they have to put in man hrs to to finish up the project I'm curious as to see how they will pull this off. Knowing how programmers are they aren't going to handover all of there ideas to microsoft, I sure as hell wouldn't because I worked hard on that shit just to give it up when Konami said so. Fuck that it can be implemented into another horror based game.

Do you truly have no concept of how long it takes to manufacture? Do you think they just push a button and a hundred thousand units are magically ready to go and distributed to every store that will stock them in the entire country?

Your ignorance is not flattering.

It may have been cancelled as a result of Microsoft succeeding in these talks.
I wouldn't deny it just because of RT, they do have strong ties with Microsoft.

Sony "showing good faith to Microsoft" is utter nonsense, their entire PS4 E3 2013 presentation was an improvised attack on Xbox One, improvised because they decided last second to throw out their speech that actually said anything about the PS4 because it included the same shortcomings they were attacking MS for.
They only took it down so they don't advertise Microsoft's game.

Don't give up hope though PS4 owners, Halo eventually got a Mac port.

Brilliant counterpoint. Your carefully crafted response has caused me to fall to my knees in unquestionable defeat. Allow me to fall prey to your belief in conspiracy theories so that I too may have my eyes opened to this evil and deceitful industry cloaked in paranoia and deceit.

That would go in line with microsoft's recent changes attempting to gain the image of a "for the people" company

It also makes sense that konami would be accepting to shamelessly whore itself, they are bailing the console market soon anyway
