You will need an SD card and working slot to get the Homebrew Channel installed in the first place. They sell Wiis at pawn shops around here for around $30-35 so you might be able to pick up another one.
As for storage, USB flash drives are hit-or-miss when it comes to working with launchers. Some of them just don't implement the entire USB storage protocol.

If you have HBC installed you should be most of the way there. Try posting a syscheck report (in spoiler tags) and we can see what you need. https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/
it says i cant use a usb only a sd card my sd card slot does not work all i want to know is there a way i can uninstall hbc and wiiflow and reinstall them and see if it will work then. when i boot up wiiflow in hbc i go to the game that i put on my usb and i press start and it goes back to the wii home screen it does this to all my games that i put on my usb do you know what this could be this is the reason i want to restart the hbc and wiiflow so i can try it one more time just to see if i did something wrong well i was installing hbc and wiiflow thank you for helping me:lol:

WiiFlow has it's cIOS set up kinda weird. You might try running an app called "WiiFlow Start Configurator". It will let you choose the force cIOS option and which one you want to use. You should be able to get it to run then.

If your HBC isn't displaying upside down and it says it's using IOS58 you shouldn't need to reinstall it. That would require a working SD slot.

Did you try the start configurator app? My only other suggestion would be to try a different USB loader to see if it's your hardware or just WiiFlow. USB Loader GX doesn't require any extra configuration steps other than having HBC installed and a usable cIOS installed as IOS249.

ok i im just going to get a new wii could you recommend a tutorial for me to install hbc and wiiflow the right way

I would try Stephanie's tutorial here.

If you don't want to play Gamecube games you can skip the DIOS MIOS part. If you do want to play Gamecube games I would recommend trying Nintendont before you install DIOS MIOS. It's more compatible and doesn't require replacing the stock MIOS on the console. :)
