Hacking TIFU - Lost NAND, but want to restore and/or update USB Loader GX

So today I found out I F$#'ed up. I pulled my Wii out of storage and wanted to restore back to stock to use all the new versions of USB Loader GX and some of the new apps that have come out. So I though "hey why not start fresh, as most of the guides only give instructions from scratch"

Turns out I didn't back-up the NAND right and only copied over the "Bootmii" folder that has armboot.bin / bootmii and ppcboot.elf AND NOT the other two files Keys.bin / nand.bin that it really needs.

I have checked the SD card installed in it, and it doesn't have a copy either.

So how F%$#'ed am I?
Is it worth making a copy of the NAND now before trying to update/installing new apps?

Currently the only thing I really use it for and works is playing GC ISO from a USB drive (This Wii has GC ports)

So has there been much advancement in the past two years? or is it safe to keep using it the way it is?

I think it save to keep using it that way, just update all homebrew apps and you should be fine
Reinstall bootmii and make a new backup of your nand i would say?

definitely. but you should just be able to install stuff manually.

Just as simple as copy/paste the new files into the folder and just installing again?

for most apps it's as simple as that yeah. you might have to get some new ios's but i'm no expert on those so i'm not sure.
i'd back up your wii's SD card too. in case you screw up with the new apps you can just go back to the old ones

First issue. Went into bootmii and the Wii goes dead with the CD drive blinking... fun times

Update: didn't have bootmii installed, making a SD card back up and loading on the app.

Is the bootmii folder on your SD with the 3 flles in it? BootMii is really picky with SD cards though so maybe it doesn't support your SD card.

There's no point in restoring the NAND backup and revirginize your Wii just to hack it again. if you follow any of those "from scratch" guides they work the same as if you had no hacks installed before, everything is just updated. ModMii recommended.

If you run the HackMii installer you can recreate the bootmii folder.

This might be true, if I can figure out how. Think I'll have another go at it tomorrow.

I know what apps I want gone, but I'll do some more research to save you all the stupid questions

Make a new folder in apps and place the installer there.
