I'm in the market to get a new media box, I have a wdtv live and I've recently bought a 5tb hard drive as my collection has just kept growing, however the 5tb drive doesn't work if plugged directly in.

So here we are looking to get a new box, it must have a graphical setup in the sense of shows movie posters etc when browsing.

I don't really want to spend more than £100, and whatever it is must support HD and large drives, so come on gbatemp, show me what you got

I've tried a raspberry pi and I'm not fond, I want something that runs out of the box and works decently, not a generic android box

I tried a raspberry pi 1 and it was sluggish and slow

It takes maybe 10 minutes at best (not counting download I guess) to set up Kodi (or I guess it's called OSMC, whatever). The Raspberry Pi 2 is incredibly more responsive than the first Pi, and OSMC will run everything once installed.

I guess you could get like one of those Amazon Fire TV box things if you don't want something generic.

Can't compare it to the WDTV because I've never used one. However, I personally own a Pi2 and it has played everything I've thrown at it without issue. I control mine with my TV remote (CEC) or my phone (an Android app called Yatse).

I've never used a WDTV myself, but my Raspy Pi 1 and 2 both perform better than anything else I've tried and have yet to fail me on anything

And yes, you could use your phone as a remote if you wanted, or you can nab a cheap IR sensor and use any TV remote.

EDIT: Dep 'd me ._.
