Hardware Bricked 3DS! Looking for a bit of insight.

I bricked my 3DS XL! Yeah! First time for everything.

So, I have 3 GateWay NAND backups of my system, and I'm looking to write them onto the NAND via a NAND mod. I've got a friend who is very good at soldering, and I'm just looking for a good tutorial.
I found this. Let me know if it's good or not.

It's fine, man. Now I know not to do this to update again.
Apparently, though, if you use sysupdater to install the cias, it does work.

I did something stupid.
I installed the update cias from 3DNUS using the DEVMenu in the aptly titled PBT.
I've only ever bricked a Wii, but I had Bootmii installed, so I fixed it in about 10 minutes.

That tutorial will work. Cross reference with SD card pinouts and diagrams on 3dbrew, and you'll be just fine.

OK. Finished soldering. I get the blue 3DS screen (YEAH!), but when I attach it to the computer, nothing appears.
Does this mean I messed up soldering to the SD?

She's not the only one who can help. There's gamesquest1, milerwan, or me. I've been modding 3DS's since the whole gateway brick fiasco, and PS2/xbox/wii/psp/360/ps3 much longer than that. Besides, she hasn't been around since the 8th for personal reasons.

Actually, I think I just made the cable too long. Shortening it now from 1.5 feet to 12cm.

The computer recognized the SD card now that I shortened the cable.
