Hacking Gateway 3DS 3.2.1, Cant Boot into Gateway with DS Profile method on N3DS??

Ok, havent updated Gateway for a few months, have been on 3.1.1 i believe. So today i noticed there was a new update for Gateway, 3.2.1 and that you are now able to boot into Gateway without the need of Zelda after the initial setup. I followed these very steps....

1) Copy the Gateway 3DS 3.2.0 ULTRA Launcher.dat to your New 3DS microSD card
2) Copy mset_<region>.cia to your New 3DS microSD card (where <region> is your console region)
3) Copy "DevMenu.3ds" to your Gateway 3DS microSD card.
4) Boot into the Gateway menu with your preferred entrypoint (Zelda or Cubic Ninja)
5) Select the new "NVRAM INSTALL" option from the menu, proceed with installation.
6) Once installed, boot into Gateway mode and launch DevMenu.3ds from the multirom menu (press SELECT)
7) Start DevMenu and import mset_<region>.cia from your SD card.
8) Reboot console and verify you can now boot into Gateway mode with the classic System Settings DS Profile method. (Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS profile)

Now i have always used BigBlueMenu.3ds file in the past but it says to used DevMenu.sds so i deleted BigBlueMenu from the sd cart and copied over DevMenu.3ds instead, after step eight i turned off the 3ds and back on and tried to use the Nintendo DS profile exploit to load Gateway mode, but when i click on DS Profile i get the screen pop with the....

"Editing profile settings for Nintendo DS/Nintendo DSi software titles here"


Any ideas why the exploit is not working, should i try using BigBlueMenu instead of DevMenu??

The instructions fail to specify during step 6 that you need to boot into sysNand in Gateway Mode. This causes many people to install mset.cia into their emuNand, which is the wrong place. You'll want to either restore your emuNand from backup, or grab System Settings from 3DNUS, so you can restore the settings (MicroSD card management and Super Stable 3D) in emuNand.

To get the exploit working, go through the steps again, and when you go to boot Gateway mode, highlight "BOOT GATEWAY MODE" and hold B. The text will change to "BOOT GATEWAY SYSNAND MODE". While holding B, press A and it will ask you to confirm you want to boot your sysNand. Now you can use DevMenu to install the downgraded mset.cia into sysNand.

Also, you'll probably want to install bluecardfix.cia into sysNand as well, as that will let you use the blue card again, so you can install the NVRAM profile without having to access the Gateway launcher, in case the profile gets lost (which usually happens any time DS-mode software is run).

Thanks for the reply, where can i restore my emuNand from i backed up my sysnand when i first did the exploit a few months back, but what about the emuNand?

You can create and restore emuNAND backups with the emuNANDTool. But it sounds like you don't have a backup of your emuNAND so just grab the updated mset from 3dnus.

Yeah sadly i never used the emuNAND tool, my emuNAND is currently 9.5.23E i believe, will i not lose this 9.5 fw if i update the mset from 3dnus? Can you give me steps in doing this as i have never used 3dnus before??

If it is really 9.5.23E then do this: (check that!)

1/ open up 3dnus

2/ put in "0004001000022000" (without quotation marks) as Title ID
3/ put in "8202" as version
4/ make sure "pack as .cia" is checked
5/ press download
6/ put the 0004001000022000.cia you got on your 3ds sdcard and install it in emuNAND
7/ ???
8/ PROFIT!

Thanks, well the actual FW im on in emuNAND is GW3D 9.5.0.23-E, does that make any difference from the steps given above?. When you say install the cia file do you mean via DevMenu?, and after that start from step 1 as posted in my opening post but making sure to follow step 6 correctly this time?


So what actually is the 0004001000022000.cia and what does installing in on the emuNAND actually do??...sorry ive never neared of 3dnus before let alone used it?

No doesn't change anything. The 0004001000022000.cia is like the mset_eur.cia, but unlike gateway's mset.cia, it is for fw 9.5 and not 4.5.

Is the 0004001000022000.cia file the system settings to restore MicroSD card managament and Super Stable 3D in emnNAND as Typhin mentioned in the 2nd post?

Yes, you should install gateway's mset on sysNAND first. The other one you got from 3dnus is to fix the settings in your emuNAND.

If you already did those steps from the first post in sysnand, you won't need to do it again after installiing the 0004001000022000.cia file in emunand.

Well, while holding down the B button you press A button and then on the next screen it says something like confirm to BOOT GATEWAY IN SYSNAND MODE press X button or A Button to go back. When i press the X button i just get a black screen

And the profile exploit is working, yay!!

So do i need to reinstall n3ds setting again (the 0004001000022000.cia file i used before) in emunand once again even though i have already done this before installing the mset_eur.cia in sysnand just now??
