Hacking [R4i 3DS]thinking of getting one but need a little help please!

Okay so I just want a DS flashcart for my NEW3DSXL

I found this one:

Which says it works for 3ds (NEW3dSXL)


Now here's the problem the website for r4i is reaaaally confusing and there's a ton of downloads and i'm not exactly sure which one i'm supposed to download to make sure everything works good on 9.7(Latest 3ds firmware)


Any help or proper downloads to this card would help immensely thank yoU!
Or even just confirmation it does indeed work.

I have a R4i SDHC 3DS V5.0 (r4i-sdhc.com). I can tell you the support for my cart is horrible.
The firmware won't work without patching it with a hex editor, they never updated it to support newer console firmware versions, because they had released newer cards, and the firmware utterly sucks. I can't put wood on it and the best I've got is RetroGameFan's stuff, which I have to boot every time using the multimedia button (you can configure which nds file is run by that).
You're in luck right now, because you've got their latest card. But as you can see, the site hasn't really been updated since last christmas, and there haven't really been any firmware updates since then. If nintendo starts blocking your card, or the firmware tells you to update even though there isn't an update, you'll be out of luck. Either stay with the old console firmware version, or change the time on your system.

I don't know if this is the same card, but i have a r4i sdhc dual core 2013 and it's terrible. They put a countdown timer inside the firmware updates, so unless you download the next update from their website, the card is unusable! I shouldn't complain though, it's only used for installing MSET and i bought it from an actual walk-in physical shop (remember those?) in Thailand for really cheap!

Apparently, they aren't from the same website but I can tell you one thing that is similar between the two. Support is horrible. Your cart's website seems to replace the latest firmware update file if there is a new version but because big N isn't blocking any more flashcarts, they removed every firmware update file from their website so people who weren't able to update on time will have to search the internet for hours just to know if people mirrored said firmware file or if they can't find anything, they'll be forced to buy a new cartridge.

The other cart's website which is r4i-sdhc.com doesn't even try to upload any firmware update files at all. If big N block the said cart, you'll need to buy another one since the chance of them uploading firmware update files is very low.

I have three of the r4ids.cn cards two of which were bought from modchipdirect. There is is not an update because one is not needed. Just download Wood 1.64 copy it over and play. Done. The link is in the bottom left corner of the home page.

Don't get confused with the patches for the Deleuxe edition which is a gateway clone that is no longer relevant.

As others have said the SDHC card is crap and should be avoided at all costs.

You should have gone with R4i Gold 3DS (r4ids.cn)
You can still cancel the order if it hasn't shipped yet. Sadly ModchipsDirect doesn't have a return policy so if it already shipped there's not much you can do.

I'm not sure what you're on about, Ace3DS is just yet another crappy clone. r4ids.cn R4i Gold is the best flashcart you can get ahold of nowadays.

R4i SDHC 3DS RTS works great. Ace Card has a nice interface, and is dirt cheap. I found R4i to be better on NES emulation. No idea what others experiences were but I've had no problems with the RTS edition.

It will work right now. The posts are saying that ongoing support isn't good so if N blocks the cart, there will likely be no update to correct.

I have current firmware 9.7.0-25 on a N3DS.

I downloaded the kernel from this site: http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/

You just download it, unzip to your SD card and put it in the R4i
